$50,000 Goal

The birth of NDN began as part of Mr. Mike Duncan’s journey, a Con-Cow/Wailaki/Wintun California native and NDN’s Executive Director. Prior to developing a vision of NDN in 2010, click here to view the SacBee article, Mr. Duncan experienced many of the challenges faced by indigenous / native communities when confronted with lack of culturally and linguistically sensitive services (i.e., prolongation of stigmas, on-going isolation, discriminative and inappropriate healing modalities). Since 2010, NDN has expanded its wings as conferences and services have been organized and delivered to indigenous / native communities living in Northern California and nearby areas.

After program evaluation in 2017, NDN (Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Volunteers) have developed a strategic plan (i.e., a roadmap for accomplishing specified goals – including allocation of current resources, organizational growth, and approaches for continuing to reach our mission and vision).

Mission

Our Purpose

Helping the people

Native Dads Networks purpose is to protect and restore the indigenous family structure through culture, education, and inter generational healing.

Needs

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on unrestricted funding to sustain and grow our work serving marginalized Tribal communities across California. Flexible support allows us to respond directly to community-identified needs, provide free and culturally grounded services, and address urgent issues without delay. Unrestricted funds ensure that we can continue offering accessible programming, strengthen outreach in underserved areas, and build long-term stability for the communities we serve.

3. Cultural Education & Traditional Teachings

4. Mental Health & Wellness Support

Access to culturally responsive wellness programming, healing circles, and trauma-informed services for fathers and families.

5. Program Supplies & Materials

Curriculum materials, books, cultural supplies, workshop materials, and family resources distributed to participating dads.

6. Transportation Assistance

Gas cards, bus passes, and travel stipends to help fathers attend programs, court appointments, job interviews, and family activities.

7. Community Outreach & Awareness

Support for outreach efforts, partnerships, event hosting, and communications to connect more Native fathers to services.

8. Staffing & Program Sustainability

Support for facilitators, mentors, and coordinators who ensure consistent, high-quality programming throughout the year.

Equity Statement

Native Dads Network is committed to advancing equity by uplifting and empowering Native fathers, families, and communities. We recognize the historic and ongoing impacts of colonization, systemic racism, and intergenerational trauma that have disproportionately affected Indigenous peoples. Our work centers cultural strength, traditional knowledge, and community-defined solutions to restore and strengthen the role of Native fathers as leaders, caregivers, and protectors.

We strive to remove barriers to access by providing free, culturally grounded programming and support services that honor Tribal sovereignty, respect diverse traditions, and reflect the lived experiences of the communities we serve. Equity for us means investing in Native-led solutions, amplifying Indigenous voices, and ensuring that Native fathers have the resources, opportunities, and support needed to thrive so that future generations can grow up connected, supported, and strong.
