Equity Statement
The SMUD Museum of Science and Curiosity affirms its goal to be a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization. Our STEAM-related educational experiences benefit diverse groups of individuals with unique and varied backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. We recognize that our organization cannot create impacting life experiences at the Museum unless we are representative of, inclusive of, and equitable toward all.
To ensure we are a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization, the following commitments have been adopted as core values of the organization and progress toward these goals shall be evaluated by Museum staff leadership and the board of directors annually.
1: The Board of Directors asserts the necessity of the board to become advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusivity within our organization and in the actions the organization takes.

3: The Board of Directors asserts the necessity of reflecting the diversity of the populations we serve on our board.
4: The Museum asserts the necessity that our staff should reflect the diversity of the population we serve.
5: The Museum acknowledges that this is a work in progress and as the Museum moves through the phases of learning and growth, new commitments may be added, and existing commitments may be modified to help steer the Museum toward its goal of being a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization.
