Filling Critical Gaps for Cats Who Have Nowhere Else to Go

Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions, Inc. serves cats and communities throughout the greater Sacramento and Placer County region and surrounding areas. Our organization was founded in 2017 after witnessing critical gaps in the animal welfare system where vulnerable cats were falling through with no safety net.

While municipal shelters work hard to care for animals already entering their doors, many fragile or medically complex cats require individualized care that traditional shelter environments are not designed to provide.

Mission Meow is often able to step in for cats whose medical, age-related, or specialized care needs exceed what traditional shelter systems can reasonably accommodate.

Through our foster-based care model, close medical oversight, and patient socialization, these cats are given the time and support they need to stabilize, recover, and ultimately find loving homes.

The Cycle We're Working to Break

Without proactive intervention, community cats continue to reproduce, creating an endless cycle of suffering and overwhelming shelters during kitten season.

Mission Meow prioritizes targeted spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives to address the root cause of overpopulation before it reaches crisis levels.

Every cat spayed or neutered prevents countless kittens from being born into hardship.

The Mission Meow Difference

• Foster-based care in loving homes
• Prevention through targeted TNR programs
• Rescue of fragile neonatal kittens and medically complex cats
• Volunteer-driven impact focused entirely on lifesaving care

What Your Gift Can Do

• $50 — vaccines and parasite treatment for a rescued kitten
• $100 — spay/neuter surgery preventing dozens of kittens
• $500 — emergency veterinary care for a vulnerable rescue cat

Cats like Millie — a paralyzed kitten rescued from a steel mill — receive specialized care and the chance to live full lives because supporters make this work possible.

With your support this Big Day of Giving, Mission Meow can continue preventing suffering and giving vulnerable cats the second chance they deserve.

Giving Activity

Mission

At Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions, INC, our mission is simple yet powerful: to save the lives of vulnerable, injured, abandoned, and special-needs cats and kittens through humane rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives, and community support.

We proudly fill the gaps left by larger shelters by stepping in for the cats who are too young, too sick, or too medically complex to survive in traditional shelter environments. As a foster-based, 100% volunteer-powered rescue, we provide individualized care that many shelters do not have the capacity or resources to offer. Every cat who enters our care receives the specialized attention they deserve—from neonatal bottle babies to seniors with chronic conditions, to special-needs cats requiring long-term support. Since we are not restricted by city or county contractual boundaries, it allows us to respond to urgent cases across communities and focus where help is needed most.

Rescue is only one part of our mission. We actively work to PREVENT suffering before it starts. Through our proactive Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives, we humanely stabilize community cat colonies by providing spay/neuter, vaccinations, and medical care and colony caretaking support. Our multi-year Sutter Ranch Project is a powerful example—transforming a rural property with decades of unchecked breeding into a healthy, stable colony with no new litters.

We also recognize that animal welfare is deeply connected to human welfare. Our Community Care Fund helps low-income families keep their beloved pets by providing food, emergency veterinary assistance, litter, or temporary housing support. Our goal is to remove barriers that force families to give up their animals due to financial hardship. Many of our recipients are seniors, people facing medical or financial crises, or residents of underserved communities with limited access to help. By supporting these seniors and families, we not only prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders but also promote humane, long-term stability for both cats and caretakers.

Our mission is sustained by fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, and community partners who believe, as we do, that humane care and kindness can change everything for a cat in need. Our approach is collaborative, responsive, and rooted in meeting needs where the system falls short.

Needs

Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions urgently needs funding to support lifesaving kitten season care. Donations directly fund neonatal kitten supplies, medical treatment, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, microchips, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts, and emergency care for vulnerable cats and kittens in underserved areas.

As a foster-based rescue that fills critical gaps left by larger shelters, every dollar helps us say “yes” to more at-risk cats who would otherwise have nowhere to go.

Equity Statement

Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions, Inc. is committed to advancing equity in animal welfare by expanding access to lifesaving resources in underserved communities. We intentionally prioritize high-risk populations, reduce systemic barriers to care, and foster an inclusive environment where all community members are treated with dignity and respect.
