We are Blood Cancer United, and we believe everyone with blood cancer deserves a longer, better life.

That’s why we are on a mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of all patients and their families. How? We fund life-saving blood cancer research around the world, provide free information and support services for patients and their families, and are the voice for those seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.

With your help, we have invested more than $2 billion in groundbreaking research supporting many of today's most innovative approaches to treatment—helping those with blood cancer not only survive but also thrive.

Our organizational strategy: Extending and improving lives

Since we began in 1949, we’ve made tremendous strides for the blood cancer community. Some blood cancers can now be cured, and others can be managed as long-term chronic conditions. So, we measure our progress not just by cures, but by all the people who can live longer, more active lives after a blood cancer diagnosis.

We do this by:

  • Looking for the new ideas, funding the science, and bringing together the necessary elements, experts, and innovations to help accelerate progress
  • Protecting access to high-quality, affordable health coverage and funding for vital research into new, better treatments
  • Providing support to new and existing patients, survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals
  • Developing and implementing novel programmatic and research efforts that focus on survivorship, caregiving, clinical trials, equitable access to care, and quality of life

Mission

Blood Cancer United is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

Founded in 1949, we are relentless in pursuit of our mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Our Giving Promise:

At Blood Cancer United, we believe....

Giving is personal: Contributions don't come from the wallet - they come from the heart. We respect how deeply our donors feel about what we do and why we do it.

Giving is community: A shared passion for change unites us. No matter where we live or who we are, we are together as one for a common cause.

Giving is good: Our donors believe in sharing their resource willingly for the good of all, not just themselves.

Giving is honest: We are always open about how, why, where, and when we use your contributions.

Giving is impact: We strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us and for those we may never meet.

Thank you for giving: Your generosity makes our work possible, and we promise to uphold your trust in us.

In 2016, Blood Cancer United launched the Beat AML® Master Clinical Trial, the first collaborative precision medicine clinical trial in a blood cancer. The trial uses advanced technology to examine the genetic make-up of each patient’s cancer and then matches patients to the most promising targeted treatment.

So far, Beat AML has:

- Improved survival for AML patients enrolled in a Beat AML study (compared to standard chemotherapy)

- Facilitated precision medicine treatment for over 400 AML patients in a Beat AML sub-study

- Sequenced AML genomes for over 1,400 patients

- Offered clinical studies to treat 15 unique types of AML

Blood Cancer United volunteers are our heart and soul; without you we wouldn't have the same impact. Blood Cancer United volunteers help in so many ways - supporting patients, advocating for better access to treatments, making our fundraising efforts both fun and effective, and always setting the standard they set for compassion and kindness. Join us as a volunteer and join the cause that's having the most impact on finding new ways to fight cancer - not someday, but today.

There are many ways to volunteer; one of them will be right for you:

- Volunteer once a week, once a month or once in a while! You can volunteer for as few or as many hours as you'd like.

- We can match volunteer assignments to your capabilities, interests, talents and strengths.

- We can help train you if you'd like to learn a new skill.

- You can join our internship program and gain a professional reference for future jobs or graduate study.
