Lead4Tomorrow is a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2011. Our primary focus is strengthening families, reducing violence, and enhancing leadership. We are currently working in California and East Africa. The principals and staff of Lead4Tomorrow have been working in the fields of education, conflict resolution, leadership development, peace building and policy development for the past four decades, both domestically and internationally. We believe both leadership development and public mobilization are essential to effectively address issues critical to the well-being of society. We believe that to make progress in creating a less violent society we must begin by supporting the development of safe, nurturing environments for children and families, interrupting and redirecting patterns of inter-generational violence. Research demonstrates this will not only benefit children and their families, but society as a whole. Furthermore, the economic benefits of safe, nurturing family environments and early childhood development are well documented.
Lead4Tomorrow's mission is to develop sound families, thriving communities, and a more peaceful world. Lead4Tomorrow's methodology builds around peer-based education and support and trauma-informed leadership development, applied in three programs: Family Hui, Community Leadership, and East Africa Community and Family Health Initiative.
Unrestricted funding supports our California Family Hui program. Current funding priorities are:
- Funds for outreach and materials to engage more families with young children
- Supplies and materials for the 12-week hui programs (each family's participation costs the organization approximately $500)
Unrestricted funding also supports our East Africa programs in Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. Funding priorities for the East Africa program include:
- Supporting our aquaculture initiative for families living in the Mara region of Lake Victoria, Tanzania
- Building micro-enterprise initiatives in Uganda to meet the immediate financial needs of families seeking empowerment in the Family Hui program
- Expanding our poultry-vegetable project with families near Dar es Salaam
Lead4Tomorrow also conducts leadership training programs for local governments and agencies designed to educate and equip community and family leaders.
Lead4Tomorrow is actively seeking to develop an Advisory Council for our work in East Africa and is looking for participants who have expertise and experience in that region of the world, especially working with families and children.
We are always in need of translators (Spanish, Farsi, or Swahili) and volunteers willing to help us grow our program.
