KidsFirst is the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Placer County, operating Family Resource Centers in Roseville and Auburn. Established in 1989, KidsFirst is a private, non-profit, community-based organization. Our vision is that all children live in a safe, healthy, and nurturing home. KidsFirst functions as a single point of entry for information and referrals, raising prevention awareness and providing an array of family support programs to strengthen families, empower parents, and keep kids safe.

KidsFirst services include child, adult, and family therapy, postpartum depression therapy, parenting classes, in-home parent education, health insurance and CalFresh enrollment assistance, support groups, community workshops, and information and referrals to low and no-cost resources. In the 2017-2018 program year, KidsFirst served nearly 3,300 children and 2,600 adults through direct programs and services. KidsFirst also reached nearly 11,930 individuals by participating in over 180 community outreach events during the year.

Mission

At KidsFirst, we provide comprehensive family care, empowering and strengthening children and families through education, advocacy, and counseling to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect.

Our vision is a community where every child lives in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.

Through evidence-based programs focused on prevention and early intervention, we reduce the risk of child maltreatment and help build strong, resilient families and vibrant communities.

Needs

Your support helps keep vital services accessible for families and children across Placer County, including therapy, parent–child training classes, educational workshops, and case management services.

We also welcome in-kind support to meet immediate family needs:

β€’ Diapers and baby wipes

β€’ Baby formula

β€’ Grocery gift cards

β€’ Gas gift cards

β€’ Target or Walmart gift cards for basic needs

These essentials provide stability for families facing urgent challenges and allow caregivers to focus on healing, growth, and connection.

Equity Statement

We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace where every person feels safe, respected, and valued. Equity guides all aspects of our organization β€” from hiring and compensation to leadership development and daily operations.

We recognize that our team members bring a wide range of lived experiences, perspectives, and identities. These differences strengthen our work, deepen our compassion, and enhance our ability to serve both people and animals. We celebrate and value individuals of all races, religions, genders, national origins, ancestries, languages, ages, marital statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, abilities, medical conditions, veteran statuses, political affiliations, and backgrounds.

We are dedicated to ensuring access, opportunity, and advancement for all. Through ongoing learning, cultural competency development, and inclusive practices, we strive to cultivate an environment where everyone can grow, contribute, and belong.

We hold ourselves accountable to creating a culture rooted in dignity, respect, and care β€” for one another and for the community we serve.
