Mission

Infinite Friends is a non-profit 501c3 organizations that focuses on creating a place where those who are 22 years and older and have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can come together and realize their full potential as adults. Infinite Friends is a place where everyone knows one another, a place where they feel at home and more importantly where they want to be.

Colleen Short, the founder of Infinite Friends, has been working with intellectual and developmentally disabled (IDD) teens for over a decade. Her current role is the director of Greater Sacramento Capernaum Young Life, a faith based non-profit organization focusing on improving the lives of special needs teens and their families. Capernaum Young Life gives special needs teens the opportunity to experience life with fun and adventure, while developing friendships with others sharing the same unique needs.

While working within the special needs community Colleen has come to recognize gaps in the services and community foundations available to the developmentally disabled entering adulthood and amongst the unique special needs individuals aging out of Young Life programs at age 22. Through countless discussions with Parents and Guardians caring for our special needs 'friends' and community leaders it became apparent that a new organization focused on helping older "friends' continue their journey into becoming independent adults is needed in the community.

Infinite Friends was born out of this recognition of need.

Needs

Infinite Friends Needs

Financial Support & Corporate Sponsorships

Infinite Friends relies on the generosity of donors and corporate partners to sustain and grow our programs. Financial contributions are vital for providing enriching activities, maintaining resources, and supporting initiatives that empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID and IDD). Corporate sponsorships help us expand our impact while creating mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses that share our values.

Volunteer Expansion

Volunteers are the backbone of our mission. We need compassionate individuals who can dedicate their time and skills to assist with events, classes, and one-on-one mentorship opportunities. Whether you can commit to regular involvement or help at occasional events, your time will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our friends.

Local Community Involvement

Infinite Friends is actively seeking engagement from the Orangevale community and surrounding areas. We want to collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and residents to create a supportive network for those we serve. From hosting events to providing resources, community partnerships help foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Spreading the Word

As a new nonprofit in the Sacramento region, Infinite Friends needs your help to share our mission and story. Raising awareness ensures that more individuals with disabilities and their families know about the services we offer, while also attracting supporters who are passionate about making a difference.

By working together, we can build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, connect, and lead fulfilling lives. If you’re interested in supporting Infinite Friends, we would love to hear from you!

Equity Statement

At Infinite Friends, we believe in the inherent dignity and value of every individual. We are committed to fostering a community where everyone, regardless of their abilities, background, race, gender, or identity, is welcomed, respected, and celebrated.

Our mission is rooted in creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID and IDD) to thrive, grow, and connect in an inclusive environment. We strive to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and ensure that everyone has equal access to meaningful experiences, relationships, and opportunities.

Guided by principles of compassion, service, and unconditional love, Infinite Friends values diversity and inclusion as essential components of our vision for a better, more compassionate world. Together, we can build a community that embraces and uplifts all people.
