Hope for Healthy Families Counseling Center

Leina Hoyt, LMFT realized that the cost of mental health treatment prevented some community members from access to much-needed services.  In an effort to increase access to affordable mental health care, Hope for Healthy Families Counseling Center was established in 2011.  To achieve this endeavor, we provide services on an income dependent sliding scale.  Hope for Healthy Families Counseling Center was established in 2011 in an effort to increase access to the affordable mental health services in Elk Grove.  To achieve this goal, our services are provided by trainees, associates, and licensed clinicians, with fees based on an income-based sliding scale for each level of clinician.

After years of growth under Leina's leadership, the agency transitioned into the capable hands of the current Executive Director, Dr. R. Isabel K'Burg.  Hope for Healthy Families has since grown into an organization with five locations and more than 30 clinicians.

The following programs are currently provided by Hope for Healthy Families:
● Individual, couples and family services are provided to children, adolescents, and adults on a sliding scale for self-pay clients.
● Anger Management: services are offered through both group and individual sessions.
● Child Protective Services Contracts: Individual, conjoint, family, and group services are provided to individuals referred by CPS.
● Court Ordered Services: Supervised Visits; Co-Parenting, Parenting and Anger Management classes; Reunification therapy; and individual and groups sessions for adults and juveniles with problematic sexual behaviors.

Mission

Hope for Healthy Families Counseling Center provides psychological services to enhance the lives and enrich relationships of our community members. Our agency specializes in treating individuals, couples, families, and groups. We believe that individuals can overcome most challenges given the right interventions and support. To that regard, we help clients find relief in the present, and empower them with the coping skills to face future difficulties.

Needs

Because of our non-profit structure, our revenue source is largely dependent on fundraising. We often find the need for volunteers to help coordinate fundraising efforts and are seeking new ideas for innovative fundraising. Our office is also looking for a part-time volunteer administrative assistant.

Although we can employ the resources of grant-based technology programs, the reality of our changing world makes it necessary to utilize technology more than ever. Clients need a wide variety of therapy approaches, and tele-health is one of those approaches. Because of this need, it is important for Hope For Healthy Families to have reliable technology equipment and software. Specifically, our needs for 2024 are five laptop-style computers for tele-health, three desktop-style workstations, and three iPads for our psychological testing personnel. Additionally, we are in need of professional programming services to design a database to assist with data analytics.

In order to maintain efficient and inviting office space, the need for unrestricted funding to cover operation and overhead costs is vital. We are in particular need of new furniture and therapy supplies (toys), and unrestricted funding to realize our goal of an effective child therapy environment (including a microphone and wireless monitoring system or Bluetooth earpiece).

The knowledge of our staff and board consists of a diverse educational experience including formal education from various colleges and universities as well as professional and community trainings. We are looking for Board members that would be able to enhance our knowledge base as well as our connections with the community and to support our efforts in grant writing and fundraising. If you are interested in serving as a Board member at Hope for Healthy Families, please contact us.

If you would like to contribute to a special fund designed to offset the patient portion of service payment, we can assure you that those funds will directly support the cost of treating individuals and families. We have a particular need for funding assistance to support our non-English speaking clients.
