Henley & Harris Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Our Access to Justice programs directly support individuals and families who must navigate the civil court system without legal representation. Through hands‑on guidance, court‑ready document preparation, and trauma‑informed support, we help community members protect their rights and move through complex legal processes with confidence.

Our impact includes:

  • Overcoming barriers to justice by helping self‑represented litigants understand court procedures, deadlines, and filing requirements

  • Improving case outcomes through organized evidence, clear declarations, and properly prepared legal documents

  • Reducing court delays by ensuring filings are complete, accurate, and compliant with court rules

  • Supporting families in crisis with compassionate, trauma‑informed navigation during wrongful death, probate, housing, and civil matters

  • Expanding access through mobile legal clinics that bring services directly into underserved neighborhoods

  • Building community knowledge through workshops that teach self‑advocacy, legal literacy, and procedural confidence

Every person we assist gains clarity, stability, and the tools to stand strong in court — regardless of income, background, or circumstance.

Mission

The Henley & Harris Foundation empowers vulnerable individuals and families to navigate the civil justice system with dignity, clarity, and confidence.

We advance access to justice by providing trauma‑informed support, court‑ready resources, and community‑based education for people who must represent themselves in life‑altering legal matters.

Our mission is to remove barriers, strengthen self‑advocacy, and ensure that every person — regardless of income, background, or circumstance — has the tools they need to be heard, understood, and treated fairly in the legal system.

Needs

Funding for Mobile Legal Clinics

We need support to bring our Access to Justice services directly into underserved neighborhoods. Donations help cover printing, supplies, transportation, and outreach materials.

2. Court‑Ready Document Supplies

Self‑represented litigants rely on us for organized, accurate, court‑ready packets. We need funding for printing, binders, tabs, envelopes, and document preparation tools.

3. Technology for Client Support

Laptops, tablets, and secure software allow us to help families complete filings, organize evidence, and access online court systems.

4. Volunteer & Staff Training

We provide trauma‑informed, culturally responsive support. Donations help us train volunteers and staff to better serve families navigating grief, crisis, and complex legal systems.

5. Outreach & Community Education Materials

We need brochures, flyers, workshop materials, and translation services to reach families who don’t know where to turn for help.

6. Emergency Assistance for Families in Crisis

Many of the families we serve are facing sudden loss, housing instability, or urgent legal deadlines. Donations help us respond quickly with support and resources.

Equity Statement

The Henley & Harris Foundation is committed to advancing equity by ensuring that every person—regardless of income, race, background, or circumstance—has meaningful access to the civil justice system.

We serve individuals and families who are disproportionately impacted by legal barriers, including low‑income communities, Black and Brown families, unhoused individuals, and those navigating trauma, loss, or crisis.

Our work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and cultural humility. We provide trauma‑informed support, clear legal navigation, and community‑based education to empower self‑represented litigants who have historically been excluded from fair and accessible justice.

We believe that equity means removing barriers, amplifying unheard voices, and creating pathways for every person to be seen, supported, and treated fairly in the legal system. Through our Access to Justice programs, we work to close gaps, expand opportunity, and ensure that justice is within reach for all.
