Grace in Action works to create a beloved community among the unsheltered and food-insecure residents of Davis. Our purpose is to restore hope and dignity through compassionate care, spiritual companionship, and referrals to local agencies.
We offer lunches every week from 12 - 1 p.m. on Mondays at Davis United Methodist Church and on Wednesdays at Pole Line Baptist Church. During these shared meals, we offer individual prayer and spiritual companionship while encouraging mutual support and care among community members. We offer haircuts twice a month, along with laundry vouchers and to-go bags with hygiene items to support our guests' self-care. Because many of our guests arrive on foot or by bicycle, we provide transportation vouchers for medical needs and other services in adjacent communities. Through the generosity of our donors and partners, we occasionally offer tents, tarps, sleeping bags, and other equipment for unsheltered guests. We do not do any of these things alone. We partner with government and social service agencies to offer referrals for legal aid, food, medical care, mental health, addiction, and housing services in the area.
Grace in Action is a tangible expression of faith, joining over 15 local faith communities in loving our neighbors. We meet Christ every week in this beloved community that is ever emerging. Ours is a ministry of companionship, finding unexpected joy in breaking bread and sharing life together.
