Equity Statement
Our Purpose
Gold Country Food Hub builds a regenerative, resilient, and locally driven food system that expands access to healthy food and fair economic opportunity. Equity is embedded in how we source, distribute, and strengthen our regional food economy.
What Equity Means to Us
Equity means reducing structural barriers that limit participation in agricultural markets and access to locally produced food. We prioritize small-scale, beginning, and socially disadvantaged agricultural producers and work to expand access to nutritious food across diverse community settings in the Sacramento region.
Core Commitments
Inclusive Leadership & Community Voice
We cultivate diverse representation in governance and create structured opportunities for community input in program development.
Fair and Transparent Market Access
We expand reliable wholesale and institutional market channels for independent producers through transparent purchasing practices and shared distribution infrastructure. We track producer participation and dollars returned to local farms as key indicators of economic impact.
Accessible Technical Assistance & Education
Through the Food Producer Resource Hub, we provide technical assistance, business development support, and resource navigation to strengthen producer capacity. Outreach is designed to be culturally responsive and accessible where feasible.
Expanded Food Access Through Multiple Market Channels
Through Healthy Groceries and Farm to Community programs, we aggregate and distribute locally sourced food to schools, food banks, community organizations, health and wellness providers, retailers, and other institutional partners. We measure impact through volume distributed, partner participation, and geographic reach.
Data-Informed Accountability
We use measurable indicators to guide continuous improvement and ensure alignment with our mission.
Organizational Commitment
Gold Country Food Hub’s Board and leadership are responsible for advancing these commitments and allocating resources to support measurable progress toward a more equitable regional food system.
Our Vision
A regional food system where independent producers and community institutions participate equitably in a resilient local food economy that benefits the broader community.
