Initinally chartered as the Folsom Lioness Club in 1980 we have been instrumental in leading and supporting many community service projects which have improved the quality of life in and around Folsom. One significant venture has been the Lion's Sight Program. We collect used eyeglasses, assist with low and no cost eye exams, and provide new eyeglasses to needy children and adults. We also support agencies whose work benefits children and our communities through contribution of time and financial support. Some of those groups are Sacramento Children's Home and Sacramento Crisis Nurseries; Maryhouse, Mustard Seed School; St. John's Shelter for women and children; Powerhouse Ministries, Twin Lakes Food Bank; Folsom Lake College food closet, Special Kids Day, and Feed My Starving Children, to name a few. We also work with inmate teams in Folsom Prison who crochet a wide variety of items for the community. We provide the yarn from donations, and in turn they give us all the items they make for us to donate to organizations in the community.
To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
We are a small organization and, in the past, have held one fund raiser a year - a crab feed. But due to the covid pandemic we have not been able to conduct this event. So, there is a need to raise funds in ways that we have not done in the past. We don't typically receive donations directly from the public.
