At First Tee, we believe every kid deserves the chance to build inner strength before the world demands it, to find the joy that comes with feeling confident in their own skin before the world makes it feel impossible, and to access experiences and spaces where personal growth happens. We exist to enable kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges.

First Tee - Greater Sacramento positively impacts the lives of over 58,000 young people in the Sacramento area and 56,000 participate each year, free of charge. The program gets children outdoors and socially engaged with others in a fun, activity-based environment. Young people in the program do learn golf, but at First Tee we teach way more than just a game. First Tee - Greater Sacramento uses golf as a vehicle to teach core values, healthy habits, and life skills that young people take with them to the classroom, college, and their first job interview. Our programs serve juniors from the ages of 3-18, and individuals with disabilities from youth through adulthood.

With one in four students not graduating public high schools, the need for quality youth programs is critical. First Tee golf program can be part of the solution to challenges facing today's youth. First Tee reaches young people ages 3-18 through golf instruction and life skills lessons administered at local golf course, with community partners, and to students in elementary schools. First Tee programs provide life skills education and expose young people to core values. Our character education helps young people prepare for success in high school, college, and life. First Tee provides quality youth golf programs that include adult mentors and safe places for young people. Through independent research, 73% of young people at our chapters report high confidence in their ability to do well academically and 82% feel confident in their social skills with peers.

Mission

First Tee - Greater Sacramento impacts the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

Needs

Supports our R.I.S.E. Golf Programming Reach - Inspire - Support - Empower

Promoting Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion through collaboration and intentional action.

We break down barriers that keep kids and families from feeling like they belong - no matter what walk of life. We aim to develop a deep understanding of the audiences we serve and reflect this in everything we create.

Sponsor a program: First Tee - Greater Sacramento has over 15 programs here are a few: Anyone Can Play Program for Individual with Disabilities or Special Needs, School Program, Junior Tour, and many others.

We see golf as a unique metaphor for life - full of unexpected challenges, where progress is a practice of self-reliance, and how you choose to respond defines who you are. We are leveraging this as a powerful vehicle, but do not define our success by how well kids play the game.

Golferships assist those individuals and families who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to afford registration. ($420 per student, 50 kids per year). Kids become a better version of themselves when they have the space to be who they are, surrounded by passionate people who guide them to see what they are capable of.

Do you have a passion for impact? First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do.

We need volunteers who are passionate about helping young people succeed. By contributing your time and talent, you can directly help further our mission.
