$25,000 Goal

The FBI Sacramento Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBISACCAAA) is a citizen support group for the FBI. Our Chapter members (alumni) have all attended the FBI Sacramento Citizens Academy, and we believe in the FBI mission to protect the American people and uphold the constitution.

We are a nonprofit separate and apart from the FBI, but we work very closely with them as trusted partners. The people of the FBI work around the clock to protect our communities — from cyber-crime, to fraud, to human-trafficking, drugs, terrorism, and gang violence — most of their work is done "under the radar," out of sight, and by a small number of people. They are our invisible heroes.

Our association exists to build bridges between local FBI staff and our communities; such that, together we strive for an informed and safer community. By doing positive things in the FBI name we are able to highlight their presence, amazing (and oftentimes dangerous) work, and the sacrifices they make to keep us safe.

We feel passionately that the future of law enforcement, and first responders at large (like so many things) rests in the hands of our youth. They are the ones who will shape how America protects its citizens in the future. We have recognized the intense need to invest in the next generation of aspiring first responders, especially those who need financial support for their education. We have given a handful of scholarships to youth in the last two years, and we want to give so many more! We want young people going into public service careers to know that they are supported, and cherished.

In that same vein, we recognize that it is hard for children to trust law enforcement unless they spend time with them, getting to know them, and learning that they are people too. We have a Boys and Girls Club program in Fresno and we want to mirror that in Sacramento. We want to bring local children and FBI agents together — to enjoy food and fun activities — because we know this leads to curiosity, relationships, and trust within our communities.

The FBI Sacramento Citizens Academy Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization separate and apart from the FBI.

Mission

The mission of the FBI Sacramento Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBISACCAAA) is to foster the special connection between the FBI Citizens Academy graduates and the FBI Sacramento Field Office (including its headquarters and resident agencies that serve 34 of California's 58 counties) in working for an informed and safer community. The FBISACCAAA goals include, but are not limited to:

• Ongoing updates on FBI activities significant to the FBI and FBISACCAAA.

• Wherever possible, and through our outreach programs, connect our region’s youth with the FBI, law enforcement, and first responders at large to build curiosity, relationships, and trust within our communities.

• Social events to connect the Academy graduate network and FBI personnel.

• Participation in special activities that expand the FBISACCAAA knowledge.

• Educating the region on the FBI mission, resources, and limitations.

• Community services projects that support law enforcement and first responders and foster safer communities within our region.

Needs

1) We hope to give away at least 20 scholarships worth $500 each to youth who are pursuing their dream of a career in public safety in our region.

2) We wish to bring FBI agents and local Boys and Girls Clubs together to foster connections and build trust — for $20 we can provide pizza, refreshments, and an activity bag for one child.

3) We want to encourage teens to pursue careers in law enforcement. When the FBI visits High Schools in our region, we love to provide meals (so those young minds can stay attentive!) Just $15 will provide food and refreshments for one teenager attending FBI Insider Day. We would also love to create a special T-shirt to commemorate the event for all those involved. For $20 we can provide food AND a T-shirt! The day long academy serves approximately 40 high school Juniors and Seniors.

4) We are ready to take the next step in organizing our fundraising, volunteer-base, and programs. Our National Board encourages the use of Wild Apricot membership management software. This investment will boost our productivity and accountability. We can sign up as part of a larger nonprofit group for a discount, and our monthly fee will be $110p/month. We are looking for an annual sponsor to help us launch these newer, savvier operations so we can do more good!

Equity Statement

Our board strives for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE)I), and our non-profit 100% supports the FBI in its own DEI initiatives; in particular, the Diversity Agent Recruitment (DAR) events. These information sessions are hosted in cities across the country to encourage minority, female, and veteran professionals to apply to become a special agent with the FBI.
