Founded in 2008, FOLFAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the cooperating association for the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area. Cooperating associations are nonprofit organizations that partner with specific national parks and many state parks to support interpretive, educational, recreational and scientific programs and services. Some focus on interpretation and education activities. Some focus on recreation. Some focus on providing and coordinating park volunteers. Some focus on fundraising. Some manage gift shops, museums or concessions. FOLFAN's mission is all the above and more: "Enhancing education and recreation opportunities for the public and protecting the wonders and resources of Lakes Folsom and Natoma."
The mission of FOLFAN is to enhance education and recreation opportunities for the public and to protect the wonders and resources of Lakes Folsom and Natoma.
Donations will be used to support the following programs and initiatives:
• Trail maintenance, repairs, construction, and other trail-related amenities
• Youth education activities
• Lake Natoma Bald Eagles docent program
• Visitor center (interim)
• Kids Don't Float loaner life vests
• Adopt the Parkway (ATP) Program
• Guided Hike Program
• Events (aligned with our mission)
• Native plant nursery at Black Miners Bar SHP
• Beautification (litter clean-up, invasive weed mgmt, graffiti removal)
Donations of $1200 or more gives the donor the option of being recognized as a Financial Sponsor for our Adopt the Parkway (ATP) Program for a 1-year period. The recognition includes two signs in the park. The donor may choose to continue as an ATP Financial Sponsor after the first year by paying the annual $1200 sponsorship fee.
