For 50 years, Child Action has helped families access quality child care by providing resources, financial assistance, and support for providers.

Now, we need YOUR help to take our impact even further.

Through the Child Action Impact Fund, we are investing directly in the future of child care.

This fund provides grants and zero-interest loans to child care providers, helping them open, expand, and strengthen their businesses. As loan recipients repay their funds, the money is reinvested into the next generation of providers—creating a sustainable solution to Sacramento’s child care crisis.

📣 What We Do

🔹 Helping Families Find Child Care – We connect families to safe, reliable child care through free referrals—making it easier to find care that fits their needs and schedules.

🔹 Helping Families Pay for Child Care – We help parents afford child care so they can work, go to school, and build a better future for their families.

🔹 Supporting Child Care Providers – We support child care providers with training, licensing, and business tools—expanding access to quality care across Sacramento County.)

➡️ Last year alone, we supported 10,370 families and 19,984 children, while helping generate $425 million in economic activity across our region.

💙 Your support helps ensure every child has a strong start and every family has the opportunity to thrive.

By investing in our community, we help shape a stronger, more equitable future for children, families, and providers—ensuring that child care remains accessible and sustainable for generations to come.

Your donation during Big Day of Giving will help launch the Child Action Impact Fund and fuel the growth of child care in Sacramento.

📣 Why Your Investment Matters

Access to quality, affordable child care affects everything—it allows parents to work, businesses to thrive, and communities to grow. It helps families stay employed, keep good-paying jobs, and break the cycle of poverty.

But right now, Sacramento doesn’t have enough child care options to meet demand.

That’s why we created the Child Action Impact Fund—a grassroots effort to support our neighbors and invest in the future of our community.

By helping child care providers open and expand their businesses, we’re ensuring more families have access to care, strengthening our local economy, and building a stronger, more resilient Sacramento.

With your support, we can continue making a lasting impact—so that no matter the challenges ahead, families and businesses can always count on the child care they need.

Giving Activity

Mission

We believe every child deserves access to quality care, every family deserves support, and every child care provider deserves the resources to succeed.

At Child Action, we empower families and child care professionals with the tools, financial assistance, and advocacy they need to build strong foundations for Sacramento’s future. By investing in child care today, we create a thriving, resilient community for generations to come.

Our Work at a Glance:

📌 Making Child Care Affordable – Every family should have access to quality care, regardless of income. We help parents afford child care so they can work, pursue education, and build a stable future.

📌 Strengthening Child Care Businesses – Providers are the backbone of early education. We offer training, licensing support, and business resources to ensure they can grow, thrive, and serve more families.

📌 Investing in Long-Term Solutions – Sustainable child care requires more than short-term fixes. Through advocacy and initiatives like the Child Action Impact Fund, we create pathways for ongoing growth, ensuring Sacramento’s child care system can adapt and expand for years to come.

Needs

This fund will support the launch of Child Action’s Zero-Interest Revolving Loan Program for Child Care Providers—a grassroots, community-driven initiative designed to increase access to child care and strengthen Sacramento’s economy.

Your support helps child care providers grow and sustain their small businesses, ensuring families have the care they need to work, thrive, and build a better future.

Your Donation Will Help Providers:

✅ Expand infant care capacity, addressing one of the region’s greatest shortages

✅ Offer extended-hour care for parents working nights, weekends, and nontraditional schedules

✅ Make small but critical improvements—including licensing, facility upgrades, and equipment—to stay open and provide safe, high-quality environments

🏗️ Loans May Also Support:

Technology tools (laptops, tablets, parent communication systems)

Outdoor play spaces and learning environments

Adaptive equipment and materials to support children with special needs

Transportation needs (car seats, larger vehicles, maintenance)

Culturally responsive and inclusive learning materials

🌱 Why This Matters

These loans help providers maintain and improve their businesses, expand access to care, and increase quality—while helping working families stay in the workforce.

As funds are repaid, they are reinvested into other providers—creating a sustainable cycle of growth and impact across our community.

Equity Statement

At Child Action, we believe all children deserve access to high-quality early learning experiences, regardless of their family's circumstances. When every child has the opportunity to thrive, our entire community benefits.

We are committed to ensuring equal access to quality childcare by supporting childcare providers, families, and educators with the resources they need to succeed. By removing barriers, expanding opportunities, and investing in innovative solutions, we help create a strong, sustainable childcare ecosystem where every child belongs and has the chance to reach their full potential.

Through this work, we strengthen families, businesses, and our region as a whole—because when all are included, everyone benefits.
