Caregiver OneCall

A nonprofit organization

Caregiver OneCall is a California-based nonprofit providing free, 24/7 telephone support, training, and respite services for family caregivers. We serve caregivers across the lifespan, including those caring for children with disabilities, spouses, parents, elders, and medically fragile loved ones.

Caregivers are the backbone of our healthcare system, yet many navigate complex, emotional, and exhausting responsibilities without guidance or relief. Too often, help is unavailable when caregivers need it most. At 2 AM. During a crisis. When burnout sets in.

Caregiver OneCall exists to close that gap.

Through our free 24/7 caregiver support hotline, real-time guidance, practical training, and culturally responsive programs, we ensure caregivers are never alone. Our services are accessible regardless of income, background, or location, with a strong focus on reaching underserved and historically marginalized communities throughout California, including the Greater Sacramento region.

By supporting caregivers, we strengthen families, reduce preventable crises, and improve health outcomes for entire communities. When caregivers are supported, everyone benefits.

Mission

No caregiver should ever feel alone at 2 AM. We provide free 24/7 telephone support, real-time guidance, practical training, and resources for family caregivers nationwide.

Needs

Caregiver OneCall Needs Statement

Caregiver OneCall exists to ensure no caregiver feels alone at 2 AM. Our work is growing rapidly, and our needs reflect the urgent, real-time support caregivers are asking for every day.

1. Funding to Sustain and Expand Our Free 24/7 Caregiver Support Hotline

Demand for our hotline continues to increase as caregivers face burnout, isolation, and crisis moments without support. We need funding to:

Keep our free 24/7 telephone support fully staffed and operational

Respond to more calls from caregivers caring for children, spouses, parents, and loved ones of all ages

Ensure caregivers can access immediate, compassionate support when they need it most

2. Support for Caregiver Training and Practical Education

Caregivers often step into complex medical and emotional roles without preparation. Funding allows us to:

Provide free caregiver training and workshops focused on real-world caregiving challenges

Offer culturally responsive education that meets caregivers where they are

Equip caregivers with tools that reduce stress, prevent burnout, and improve outcomes for care recipients

3. Expansion of Respite and Relief Services

Many caregivers cannot step away, even briefly. We need support to:

Increase access to respite services that give caregivers time to rest and recharge

Reduce caregiver burnout and health decline caused by prolonged stress

Reach caregivers who have no backup support system

4. Capacity and Infrastructure to Meet Growing Demand

As awareness of Caregiver OneCall grows, so does the need for sustainable systems. Funding supports:

Program coordination and scheduling

Outreach so caregivers know free help exists

Technology and systems that allow us to serve caregivers efficiently and responsibly

5. Unrestricted Support for Immediate and Emerging Needs

Unrestricted gifts are critical. They allow us to respond quickly to caregiver crises, scale services as demand grows, and remain accessible to caregivers regardless of income or location.

Equity Statement

Caregiver OneCall is committed to equity, access, and dignity for all caregivers. We recognize that caregivers from historically underserved communities often face greater barriers to support. Our free 24/7 telephone services, training, and resources are designed to be culturally responsive, inclusive, and accessible to caregivers of all ages, backgrounds, and caregiving roles. No caregiver should ever be left without support because of cost, identity, or circumstance.
