WHO WE ARE

The California Forest Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to educate all Californians about the benefits of sustainable forestry. Our mission is to foster public understanding of forest ecosystems in California by providing balanced, science-based information on environmental, economic, and societal uses of forest resources for present and succeeding generations.

WHAT WE DO

The California Forest Foundation educates Californians about sustainable forests and how they protect the environment and the economy. From the classroom to the Capitol, we are the source on California forestry.

- Educate students and teachers through our in-class Talk About Trees presentations

- Provide free teaching materials and environmental curriculum for classrooms

- California Forest Center educates families with its one-acre demonstration forest at Cal Expo

- Provide hands-on tours of California’s working forests for policymakers

- Distribute educational resources for local and state leaders on various policy issues

- Partner with universities to fund cutting-edge forestry research

- Support and partner in teaching California’s next generation of professional foresters

- Support the Forestry Institute for Teachers program

Mission

Needs

Our primary ask of donors is funding to help support our myriad of program expenses and initiatives. Specifically:

- Talk About Forests, our primary education medium that we field to different schools

- California Forest Center, our one-acre standing exhibit at Cal Expo where we host school field trips nd educate the general public on sustainable forests and forest management principles as well as give away tree seedlings

- Workforce Development initiatives with area partners to bring education and employment opportunities to the public's attention

- Forest Tours, where we educate public officials on important forest-related issues facing California's communities and industries
