The California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA) is a statewide coalition of 10 organizations representing more than 40,000 residents across California.

CEJA serves as a bridge between grassroots organizing and key decision-makers, shaping socially just environmental policy. As a frontline alliance, CEJA builds democratic, equitable solutions to pollution, poverty, and racism—and lifts up regenerative systems that support thriving communities.

Giving Activity

Mission

The California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA) is a statewide, community-led alliance that works to achieve environmental justice by advancing policy solutions. We unite the powerful local organizing of our members in the communities most impacted by environmental hazards – low-income communities and communities of color – to create comprehensive opportunities for change at a statewide level. We build the power of communities across California to create policies that will alleviate poverty and pollution. Together, we are growing the statewide movement for environmental health and social justice.

Needs

For more than two decades, CEJA has been at the forefront of the fight for environmental justice, championing the fundamental right of every person to live, work, and play in a safe and healthy environment. The past two years have brought deep challenges for the environmental justice (EJ) movement. While California has generally held or advanced green energy policy, there is more work to do to ensure these policies benefit the communities who need them most.

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’re rising to meet this moment with bold ambition. In 2026, we’re aiming to raise $25,000 from grassroots supporters who believe in people-powered change. We invite you to join us as a monthly supporter or make a one-time gift—whether it’s $2.50 or $2,500, every dollar fuels tangible change across the state.

Your generosity allows us to:

-Bring hundreds of community leaders to Sacramento each year to meet directly with elected officials and help shape environmental policy

-Host powerful environmental justice tours that connect policymakers with frontline communities impacted by fossil fuel pollution

-Educate and mobilize voters across California, uplifting the voices of low-income communities of color at the ballot box

-Publish reports, studies, and articles that uplift clean and renewable energy solutions

-…and so much more!

With your support, we can ensure that environmental justice is a reality felt in every neighborhood across California.

Give today and help power the next 25 years of impact.

Equity Statement

CEJA envisions a future where all Californians, particularly those most historically impacted by environmental injustice, co-govern local regenerative economies that ensure collective prosperity and harmony with the natural world. We practice self-determination through the democratization of land, labor, and resources in ways that repair and reverse the long course of environmental racism, the climate crisis, and colonialism. We steward clean air, sweet water, and vibrant land where our communities thrive with rewarding work, clean transportation, homes, and renewable energy.
