Established in 2007, Computers 4 Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to bridging the digital divide in our community. Many low-income students and families do not have access to a computer or affordable internet, limiting access to software for homework, the ability to search for jobs, access to healthcare, and more. Today more than ever limited access to the online world is a barrier to development and growth.
We are bridging this divide by providing low-income students and community members in West Sacramento and the greater Capital Region with computers equipped with software & virus protection, ready to connect to the internet. We combine this with support from specialists trained to provide support navigating the online environment.
Computers4Kids also provides high school and college students the opportunity to gain technical skills and work experience through participation in our internship programs.
For over 15 years Computers 4 Kids has developed a variety of programs, all working towards our mission of increasing online access and online support.
Computers 4 Kids (C4K) is dedicated to uplifting communities by helping households get online and connect with resources that better their lives.
We refurbish computers, help households find affordable internet plans, and provide digital skills training on using the internet. This opens up access to education, jobs and healthcare.
Our focus is on students and individuals in Yolo and Sacramento counties.
Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 to support initiatives at Computers4Kids (C4K): the Get Connected Capital Region Campaign and the Green Technology Initiative. Together, these programs expand digital access, empower individuals, and reduce electronic waste across Yolo and Sacramento Counties.
GET CONNECTED CAPITAL REGION
Our Get Connected Campaign focuses on ensuring every household has access to affordable internet and the skills to use it confidently. Your contribution supports:
- Affordable Internet Access: Helping families enroll in low-cost internet programs.
- Digital Literacy Workshops: Providing digital literacy training to build essential online skills for education, employment, and healthcare.
- Get Connected Days: Hosting community events that connect residents with affordable internet, computers, and training.
GREEN TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE
Your donation helps C4K transform used technology into new opportunities. Through our Green Technology Initiative, we collect donated computers from local businesses, preventing them from becoming eWaste. Each computer is securely refurbished, upgraded, and prepared for a new home with a student, job seeker, or family in need.
Funding supports outreach to local companies through our Computer Donation Partner Program, and hiring technicians to meet the growing demand for refurbished devices.
Every computer saved from landfills represents less waste and more access for our community.
