SSVMS’s charitable foundation, established in 1966, has evolved into Bridging Medicine - a community-driven initiative focused on improving health outcomes across the Sacramento region.  At its core is Future of Medicine, a hands-on workforce pipeline that introduces local high school students to healthcare careers through job shadowing, mentorship, and real-world clinical experiences, often for the very first time.

Big Day of Giving is here!  Donate now through May 7 to support Future of Medicine.  Your gift directly supports student participation by covering transportation, program materials, meals, and CPR certification training.  For many students, this program is a life-changing first step toward a future in medicine and a stronger, more representative healthcare workforce in our community.

Impact Levels

  • $500 – Supports transportation and supplies for one student
  • $250 – Funds hands-on lab materials (including dissections)
  • $100 – Provides CPR certification for two students

Help us inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders. Donations are tax-deductible.

Giving Activity

Mission

Founded in 1868, the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society (SSVMS) is a physician-led association representing more than 7,000 physicians and medical students across the Sacramento region. In 1966, SSVMS established the Bridging Medicine as its affiliated charitable organization. Bridging Medicine’s mission is to improve community health by connecting people to care, supporting healthcare education, and inspiring the next generation of medical professionals.

Needs

Bridging Medicine programs are supported solely by grants and generous donations from the community. Without this support, programs dedicated to increasing access to healthcare, preventing opioid misuse, addressing workforce shortages, sharing medical history, and providing scholarships to medical students would not be possible.
