Black Womxn United (BWU) started in 2017 celebrating, elevating, and centering the needs of the beautiful Black womxn and girls throughout the greater Sacramento area. We continue to evolve and remain committed to the advancement of Black womxn and girls.. Last year, our programs encouraged, supported, and empowered approximately 600 Black womxn and girls

We envision a community where ALL Black womxn and girls are equipped to lead and have equity in well-being, education and economic empowerment.

Your funds will cover costs for administrative resources, facilities, speakers, and when in person a light meal for attendees to these events.

"Black Girls Matter" focuses on personal and professional development, including mentoring, creating STEAM equity and access to Black girls. Your gift will help us provide scholarships for twenty girls to attend the MoSAC (Museum Of Science and Curiosity) both Spring and Summer camps in 2023. Volunteers are needed. Our anticipated annual budget is $20k

"Black Queer and Here" a hybrid of in person and virtual monthly mental wellness experiences, with a goal to help counter social isolation in LGBT+ youth and young adults. Volunteers are needed. In 2022 we introduced our inaugural Black Women United's Sacramento Black Womxn’s Festival, an event focused on engaging and meaningful activities for every generation of Black womxn and girls. Volunteers are needed.

Our estimated budget is $60k to cover costs for facilities, speakers, social and wellness activities, and security to provide a safe space for a joyful time.

• Wellness activities for renewal and rejuvenation

• Community organization and resources

Equity Statement

Our goal is to ensure our resources address our community’s most vital needs, as it relates to the education, empowerment, and advancement of Black womxn and girls including LGBTQ+(which is why we use the letter x when we spell womxn).
