Ali Youssefi Project

The Ali Youssefi Project was created by his family in 2019 to honor Ali Youssefi after his death. Ali was a proud Sacramentan and dedicated his work to harnessing the power of community and to uplift the city that he loved. It is with Ali's impactful legacy in mind that AYP started. It's our way to celebrate his life's work and continue to build meaningful projects in his name.

As a local developer, Ali is perhaps most-well known for developing Warehouse Artist Lofts (WAL). WAL is a mixed-use, mixed-income development for creatives in Sacramento and gives much needed affordable housing to artists living in downtown. Five years since its inception, the nationally recognized project has become a destination hub for creatives, locals, and out-of-towners.

In 2019, with Verge Center of the Arts as our fiscal sponsor, we launched our inaugural project-an Artist in Residency (AIR) Program, the first of its kind in Sacramento. Our residency program provides visual artists financial support along with time and space to concentrate on their work.

Mission

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Ali Youssefi Project is to give creative innovators access to opportunities that elevate Sacramento.

MISSION: We invest in people, cultivate ideas, and connect communities.

Needs

While we continue to evaluate long term revenue sources, we must continue to fundraise in the range of $50,000 a year to maintain the current Artist in Residence Program.

As we build an organization separate from our fiscal sponsor, we seek unrestricted funding to establish our own nonprofit and to expand our programing.

We need to recruit three to five board members that can help amplify our program and accelerate our vision. We need people involved in planning, raising money, and taking the next steps as we become our own nonprofit. Board members will broaden our networks and bring like-minded people into the fold.
