The ASI Food Pantry was founded in 2015, to feed students facing hunger at Sac State.
Today, the ASI Food Pantry provides free groceries and essential items to over 600 students weekly in a welcoming, judgment-free environment β ensuring no Hornet has to choose between paying for food and staying enrolled.
Beyond food access, we offer a safe space to share challenges, opportunities to earn community service hours while building leadership skills, and mentorship for students interested in researching poverty and hunger within the college context. Your support allows the ASI Food Pantry to provide fresh produce, dairy, pantry staples, and culturally relevant items that help students maintain stability and focus on their education.
This year, the ASI Food Pantry is also raising $39,000 to expand its capacity to serve students year-round. Investments include a second set of after-hours pick-up lockers ($15,000), a new van loading ramp ($12,000), warehouse pallet shelving ($8,000), and retrofitting for the mobile pantry van ($4,000). These upgrades will increase efficiency, expand access, and allow the Pantry to serve more students when and where they need support.
Your gift strengthens food security, protects student persistence, and ensures every Hornet has the stability to succeed.
