Agape has been finding homes for abused and neglected children for 65 years and we've placed thousands of kids with loving foster parents. Agape means 'unconditional love'; this is the love that has been demonstrated over the many years of serving children. Every child who is welcomed into a home at Agape is encouraged and touched in some way, whether they are with us for a short time or find a home for life. Agape trains people to become foster parents and this training is intensive and helps the foster parent with various issues that may arise. Our own Social Workers visit the child every week to ensure the well-being and progress of the child in care. We have many programs to help the child to heal and prosper. When reunification with the biological parents is not possible, we are able to help the children through adoption.
Agape Villages mobilizes community resources to provide high-quality homes, innovative solutions, and the highest of professional services to disadvantaged youth and their families. We strive to meet their needs and maximize their potential to lead better, brighter, more productive, and independent lives.
Foster Parents: We need loving foster parents who are willing to be trained and certified to take in children removed from their biological homes often due to abuse and/or neglect.
Volunteers are critical to our success as a non-profit. They help us with fundraising events, outreach efforts, administrative needs such as phone calling, data entry, and volunteer coordination and much more. We love our volunteers but are always on the search for more amazing people to join our team.
We are always looking for gift cards or donations to assist with foster kid activities such as the Annual Foster Families picnic and the Annual Holiday party. We also love getting blankets, clothes, toys, or anything that can help our foster kids feel comfortable in their new environment.
Enrichment Program: We have many talented foster children who are unable to develop their creativity because of lack of resources, and this program is designed to intervene. It gives the kids a chance to play a sport or take an art/music class or anything that they are interested in pursuing. The true beauty of the enrichment activities is that it lets foster children know they are valued. It also provides them with a sense of normalcy that too often is lacking in their lives. Foster families are able to benefit as well, as the program includes opportunities for families to attend various sporting events, theatrical and musical productions, classical performances, and more.
Master's Level Social Workers: We need funds to cover the cost of a social worker in each foster home once a week. These social workers form a "needs and services" plan for each child and set them up on a path to success. They also form a bond with the child and family and give the child confidence and self-esteem to accomplish their goals.
