ART-TISM creates safe, inclusive spaces where children on the autism spectrum and their families can learn, create, and connect through the power of art. Founded by special needs parent, educator, and artist Valene Byrd, ART-TISM was born from lived experience and a deep understanding of how isolating it can be for families to find spaces where their children are not just accommodated—but truly welcomed.
With 1 in 31 children diagnosed with autism, the need for accessible, culturally responsive programming has never been greater. ART-TISM meets this need by centering creativity, community, and compassion. Our programs include the Annual ART-TISM Interactive Art Exhibit, sensory-friendly community art workshops, and professional development training for educators and school staff—ensuring inclusion extends beyond one event and into everyday spaces.
Each year, hundreds of families gather at our free, sensory-aware events to experience joy, build life skills, and access trusted resources in a supportive environment. From calming rooms and adaptive art stations to caregiver connection and advocacy, ART-TISM is changing what inclusion looks like in our community.
When you give to ART-TISM, you are investing in more than a program—you are supporting families, celebrating neurodiversity, and helping build a community where every child belongs.
Together, we can continue creating spaces rooted in service, advocacy, and love—because inclusion is not optional, it’s essential.
