$5,000 Goal

The Natomas Schools Foundation (NSF) was founded in 2004 to support academic achievement by ensuring students have access to the resources they need. The Foundation is committed to building positive relationships between our District and our community, which support the academic, athletic and artistic achievement of the students served by NUSD. The goals and objectives reflect the belief that the Foundation will provide supplementary support to the programs and services provided to students, teachers and families.

To help with the high cost of college, the Foundation annually awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating high school seniors. NSF scholarships are designed to further the education of students who not only have shown promise academically but have a solid work ethic and who go out of their way to serve their campus or community. In the last 5 years, the NSF has awarded over $40,000 in scholarships to high school seniors enrolling in college.

To help with closing the Digital Divide, the Foundation annually awards students with a Chromebook. The mission of this scholarship is to give deserving students the tools they need to be successful in both their personal and school lives. Through this scholarship, NSF supports students' achievements, academics, and career objectives. In the last 4 years, the Natomas Schools Foundation has awarded nearly 60 Chromebooks to students in need.

In 2016, the Foundation started the annual 5k "Run for Their Future." The event draws in over 800 people and encourages our community to come together and support good health while also raising funds for our schools. Unfortunately, the Foundation was forced to cancel last year's fundraiser and postpone this year's because of the COVID pandemic. NSF hopes to resume with this community-wide fundraiser in 2022.

In December 2020 and 2021, the Foundation and District reached out to the Natomas community to help raise $44,000 to directly support some of our families/neighbors that were in dire need of shelter, food, and other basic necessities due to the unprecedented COVID pandemic.  This effort has helped 35 of our students and their families.

Mission

The mission of the Natomas Schools Foundation (NSF) is to support academic achievement for all students within the Natomas Unified School District (NUSD) by fostering an educational culture of achievement, promoting literacy and enrichment activities, creating access to post-secondary and adult education, supporting the professional development of teachers, and encouraging community involvement.

Needs

Because the Foundation is a volunteer run organization, funding is needed for operational needs to sustain an active non-profit that supports our students and community.

The Foundation offers scholarships to graduating seniors thanks to funding from individuals and corporations wishing to support students seeking higher education in specific fields of study.

The Foundation actively seeks volunteers and vendors to support events. For example, when the Foundations hosts a 5K run/walk, volunteers and vendors are needed to run a successful event.

The Foundation is actively seeking qualified Board members who share a passion for the education of our youth.
