$10,000 Goal

NAMI Sacramento has been helping people in this region for almost 40 years. We offer support groups, educational classes, information, and outreach for people living with mental illness and/or their family members. For those who need our support, education or advocacy, there is no charge for our services.

NAMI Sacramento is a self-supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the Sacramento Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Mission

NAMI Sacramento provides mutual support, resources, advocacy, and education to the families, friends, and persons with mental illness to improve their general welfare and treatment.

Needs

We are looking to specifically fund youth education classes with the money raised. With Ending the Silence, we bring to people to the campus for the presentations. Presenters need to be trained, supplied, and reimbursed. With NAMI on Campus, we come to the campus repeatedly to present the program to school staff, parent groups and the students themselves. Then we follow up with student enrollment days and follow up with club support.

Beyond those efforts, our organization is trying to increase its capacity to deliver more of NAMI's wonderful programs to the Sacramento region.

Nonprofits struggle with keeping up to date with the advances of technology. Computers and software would help in the administrative aspects of our mission.

We need people who are either living in recovery with their mental illness, or are family members of people living with mental illness, to be support group facilitators and teachers for our programs.

Equity Statement

NAMI Sacramento will reach out to and welcome the community at large through our recruitment, marketing, public education, and awareness activities. NAMI Sacramento will strive to support recruitment and retention of a diverse and inclusive membership and leadership. Whenever there is a demand and the interests of members can best be served by support through groups sharing some affinity, including but not limited to lived experience or primary language, NAMI Sacramento shall encourage its NAMI State Organization and members to offer multiple support groups beyond their baseline family and/or persons affected by mental illness.
