The Lenaea High School Theatre Festival has provided arts education to youth in Sacramento for 67 years. The three-day festival typically brings together over 1,500 high school students from nearly seventy high schools for three days of immersion guided by theatre professionals and educators. Students perform theatrical pieces, present technical designs and original scripts, receive feedback from theatre professionals, and attend workshops on theatre topics.
The festival is held at the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College, hosting over 1,500 students from 70+ high schools from throughout Northern California. Students prepare monologues, duo scenes, one-act plays, scenic designs, costume designs, and original scripts for scoring and workshopping. Additionally they enjoy a packed schedule of workshops from industry professionals.
Not only does theater education provide students with essential life skills, but it also helps to build their confidence, self-esteem, and creativity. Students who participate in theater education programs are more likely to succeed academically, socially, and professionally. By donating to our organization, you will be investing in the future of not only theatre, but of our society. Thank you for your support!
