PBS KVIE is an invaluable part of the greater Sacramento region, giving young and lifelong learners a base to explore ideas, arts, and adventures on four unique channels: KVIE, KVIE2, KVIE WORLD, KVIE PBS KIDS. KVIE's award-winning programs showcase the best our community has to offer, and viewers explore the larger world through PBS programs that engage the mind, body, and spirit. As the only locally owned television station in the market, KVIE reflects the community back to itself by featuring the best of PBS and creating local programs about our region's past, present, and future.

In September 2025, KVIE expanded that commitment with the launch of Abridged, our nonprofit digital news service dedicated to public service journalism in the Sacramento region. Abridged builds on KVIE’s long-standing mission by delivering free, fact-based, non-partisan local reporting that informs, connects, and strengthens our community. Covering Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, and El Dorado counties, Abridged focuses on the people, issues, and decisions shaping daily life in our region. Guided by the same editorial integrity and independence that define KVIE, Abridged represents a renewed investment in civic understanding and community connection at a time when local news is more essential than ever.

KVIE is the region's premiere storyteller. Through broadcast programs, digital platforms, public service journalism, and community events, KVIE invites each member of our community to discover new perspectives, ask deeper questions, and stay connected to the place we call home.
