GCGSR is an independent, non-profit organization that is not affiliated with any other rescue group. There is no national, parent organization, or umbrella group that provides financial support to GCGSR. All donations to the GCGSR go to help German Shepherds in your community. We do not receive funding from any federal, state, or local government agency. Financial support for the organization's programs and services is provided solely by donations from individuals, businesses, and/or foundations.
Greater California German Shepherd Rescue began operations in December of 2007 to serve the needs of the dogs in the Greater Sacramento, Modesto, South Lake Tahoe, and adjacent areas. We work cooperatively with animal shelters, professional trainers, and other rescue groups toward our common goals of saving dogs' lives.
Veterinary care for foster dogs; this included cataract surgery, major orthopedic surgery for several dogs, heartworm treatments, routine spay/neuter surgeries, one C-section on a pregnant dog, diagnostic tests to determine a dog's problem, physical exams, vaccinations, medications, and treatment for routine items such as parasites, skin conditions, kennel cough, and ear infections.
Dog food for foster dogs; $25 will cover the cost of dog food for an adult dog for about one month.
Researching a company to revamp our website.
- Crates for our foster volunteers and to use at our events cost approximately $75-$100/each, as they break down over time and need to be replaced.
- Miscellaneous supplies, such as collars, leashes, dog beds, bowls, and toys are always in need, as well as replacement items for our regular adoption days. We had two momma dogs and their young litters who went into foster care. Lots of puppy pads and puppy formula to help support the puppies were needed.
