Dating back to 1959, Fairytale Town has welcomed families from all over the world through Humpty Dumpty's gate into an enchanted realm. Today, we are welcoming our fourth generation of visitors into two and a half acres of magic and fun that have stood the test of time. A nonprofit outdoor children's museum, Fairytale Town is home to three-dimensional play sets, or exhibits, that are based on favorite fairytales and nursery rhymes. Fairytale Town also boasts a family of rare and miniature breed animals, interactive learning gardens, and two performing arts stages. Significant physical improvements and innovative programming have established Fairytale Town as an important destination that promotes family quality time, creativity, imagination, learning, and fun. Now more than ever, children are bombarded with constant consumer advertising and shock-value entertainment in an increasingly busy world. However, families still have a safe and innocent place all their own at Fairytale Town, where all ages can enjoy gentle play and creative stimulation in a safe and colorful environment.
While Fairytale Town is fortunate to earn revenue through admissions to support our operation, it is only through contributed revenue from generous donors that we are able to provide unique programming. Our calendar is full of public programs ranging from annual wellness, music and book festivals, to agriculture, holiday and international celebrations.

We serve 250,000 guests each year and as one of the top five visited attractions in the Sacramento region, the park is in constant need of upkeep. Donations to help keep the park sparkling also support plans to make improvements and add new features such as additional playsets and enhanced animal exhibits.
Our top needs:
  1. Funding: Program - The Sacramento Adventure Playground is an after-school youth development program that enables youth ages 7 to 15 to engage in supervised play activities free of charge. Essentially a makers' laboratory or tinkerers' workshop, the Adventure Playground puts real tools into the hands of youth so they can build and create things that reflect their own ideas and visions. Research shows that youth are inspired to be more imaginative, creative, collaborative, and thoughtful in these nontraditional environments than they are in more structured playgrounds; and the range of play and activities offered in these playgrounds helps children express themselves while building useful skills that prepare them to grow into competent adults.
  2. Funding: Program - Sacramento Children's Theater offers FREE educational musical theater productions to local students in Pre-K through third grade. It is the longest-running community theater program in our region, spanning more than 75 years. Fairytale Town works with community members who serve as playwrights, actors, crew, costumers, and scenery painters to produce a quality production.
  3. In-Kind Donations - Fairytale Town is growing! Our Master Plan includes expanding the park by one-half acre and constructing a Story Center building that will provide flexible space for all-weather programming related to children's creation, reenactment, and recording of stories. An outdoor classroom, expanded garden area and four new play sets designed to serve older children are also part of the Master Plan. A gift shop and enhanced food concessions will generate revenue for the Park, and restrooms for both Fairytale Town patrons and the general public will be doubled and brought to current ADA standards. Furniture is needed for this expansion, more specifically a conference table and chairs.
  4. Technology - As the number of guests grows and our impact expands in the community, it becomes all the more important to streamline the experience and keep up with the demand through new technology. We are currently in need of a new Point of Sale system that has the capacity to handle ticket sales, field trip reservations, and serve as our donor/member database.
  5. Funding: Program - Fairytale Town Troupers is a Theatre Arts program that teaches the essentials of live stage production in a practical rehearsal and performance format. The Troupers program is open to young actors aged 5 to 18. Internship opportunities are also available for ages 18 to 21. In this unique program, novices work side-by-side with seasoned veterans to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the art of producing live theatre.
"Fairytale Town is a valuable community asset that serves more than 250,000 annually. It is valuable to children because it provide safe places to explore, imagine and learn. It's valuable for families because it builds relationships and strengthens bonds with your children, and creates happy memories that last a lifetime. It is important to our community because people from all walks of life enter our gates and have common experiences here. These common, or shared experiences are essential for place making and community building. By supporting Fairytale Town you are making a long-lasting and memorable impact on the lives of children in our region." Sincerely, Kathy Fleming Executive Director Fairytale Town
