The 5k Run & Walk will take place in 2026 along the Del Rio Trail, an inner-city trail that allows cyclists, pedestrians, runners, and dog walkers to travel miles to access schools, parks, retail centers, and jobs. The trail provides the potential for recreation amenities and will serve as an alternative commute route for people to bike to work rather than drive on freeways and boulevards.

The proposed 4.8-mile trail will run south through the Land Park, South Land Park, Freeport Manor, Z’Berg, Pocket, and Meadowview neighborhoods between Interstate 5 and Freeport Boulevard.

Black History is American History, but isn’t acknowledged within our education systems throughout the country. Due to the circumstances, many communities and families look into other resources like community centers and museums for proper education on topics within Critical Race Theory. The Sojourner Truth Museum is Sacramento’s only Black History Museum with a complete African Diaspora.

Exercise with us on 7th February on our “Souls for Sojo” 5k Run & Walk throughout the “Del Rio Trail”. The Del Rio Trail is a nature-based bike and walking trail featuring art installations from Sacramentan artists that goes from Florin through Land Park. Get a good walk in, see our resources we partner with, and help Sojo keep its door open! Our goal has always been to make history and Sojourner’s truth accessible to local communities, especially our youth that may not receive it in their main educational resources. Your support and attendance will help us do that!
