The Children's Receiving Home was founded in 1944 through a cooperative effort of the Junior League of Sacramento and the Rotary Club of Sacramento. Since 1944, CRH has been a beacon of hope for the Sacramento region; providing compassionate care for children and youth who have nowhere else to turn and are in crisis. CRH serves children who have been removed from their homes having suffered some form of abuse or neglect. These children have had lengthy (sometimes lifelong) negative experiences with adults and others. They are often angry, hurt, don't like themselves, don't trust others, and have not had anything approximating a "normal" childhood. Through innovative programs we positively impact these young lives and create better opportunities to have safe and permanent homes. CRH serves about 1,500 children and families annually.

Our mission is to provide the most helpless victims with the best care possible so that these children know they have a safer and brighter future. Through new additions to our services including:
- Independent Living Program for emancipating youth
- Outpatient Counseling Services on-site and in the community
- Trauma-Informed Care Preschool for the very youngest survivors of abuse to learn healthy ways to respond to the world
We continue to challenge ourselves to meet the changing needs of children, families, and the community.
We rely on community support at all levels. First and foremost, dollars help. We can also use donations of clothing, gift cards, activity supplies, and anything else you might imagine children and youth between the ages of 1 and 19 -- especially teenagers and young adults -- would need. We welcome your contributions in a variety of ways:
-Online or mailed donations
-Monthly recurring donations
-United Way/workplace Giving
-Gifts through your estate or IRA
-Designate CRH as the beneficiary of your Life Insurance Policy
-Vehicle donations
-Gifts of stock or other assets
Our top needs:
  1. Funding: Unrestricted - We have outgrown our campus in many ways and need to be able to remodel and update
  2. Funding: Program - Sprouts Trauma Informed Care Preschool for the youngest survivors of abuse
  3. Technology - CRH needs to update all our computers and provide better IT support to staff
  4. Board Members - Help us make a difference for at-risk youth and children in crisis
  5. Funding: Program - Independent Living Program for aging-out foster youth
With the trust and financial support of the Sacramento community, the Children's Receiving Home offers a full continuum of care to children displaced from their families due to abuse or neglect. Whether it is our preventative or aftercare services, CRH is a place where children and families matter.
