Our motto is “It’s about the animal” and we believe all animals have value.

Animal Rescue League is a No-Kill, all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity with a cage-free, home-like cat sanctuary/adoption center in Sacramento.

We focus on less adoptable animals – senior, feral animals and animals that were abandoned, physically abused, injured, or thrown away - including those with feline leukemia and feline aids. Regardless of their injuries, costs, age and whether they are found in highway ditches, roaming  the streets as a “feral” or abandoned in vacant homes they all deserve a second chance to a quality life. We restore them to health, help them regain trust in people, and adopt them to loving families. Animals not adopted have a home with us for the rest of their natural lives.

We cannot do this alone. We need your help by donating so these animals can have a better life.

Mission

To rescue and rehabilitate stray, abandoned and abused animals in our communities and give these animals a brighter future by providing a safe and healthy happy life in our sanctuary. In addition, to teach responsible animal care to help prevent further animal abandonment, cruelty, and overpopulation.

Needs

$85,000 - for MEDICAL EXPENSES which includes evaluations of the animal's physical health by a licensed veterinarian, all required vaccinations, spaying and neutering, microchip implantation, medical treatment for sickness or injuries, and long-term care of animals not adopted.

$45,000 - for OPERATING EXPENSES which includes rent, insurance, utilities, food, litter, and miscellaneous pet supplies.

$28,000 - for a new OUTSIDE ANIMAL ENCLOSURE for our sanctuary. This would provide a safe outdoor environment and to help enrich the lives of our animals.

VOLUNTEERS are needed:

a) Assist at our cat sanctuary/adoption center near the American River College by spending time with our animals and helping with the everyday maintenance.

b) Foster a cat.

c) Develop a new website to replace our current website at www.arlcalif.org.

d) Assist with social media support, community events, grant writing, marketing, and/or fundraising.

Equity Statement

Our core belief is that all animals have value. We are committed to eliminating abuse, homelessness and cruelty for all animals.

Every day we are faced with new challenges from the ever-growing homeless problem in our neighborhoods. As we look to the future, we envision being able to (1) purchase the property, (2) provide more services directly on our premises such as a low-cost dental clinic which is at the top of our list, (3) provide spaying/neutering, vaccinating, and micro-chipping at our site and (4) continue to promote animal education on care and responsibilities through our programs for young children and civic groups.
