Soroptimist International of Placerville (SI Placerville) Helping Hands Program:
If someone is about to become homeless, giving them a single cash infusion, averaging $1000, may be enough to keep them off the streets for at least 2 years. That's the conclusion of a 2016 study conducted by Notre Dame researchers in collaboration with Chicago's Homelessness Prevention Call Center (HPCC).
SI Placerville's Helping Hands Program is the perfect resource to help families stay in their homes. With the downturn of the economy in 2008, SI Placerville established this Program to help families cover emergency expenses up to $500.
Big Day of Giving Funds would allow our Club to increase our Helping Hands Giving from $500 to $1,000 which is the amount shown most helpful in homelessness prevention.
