Celebrating 50+ years of service, the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership Food Closet (SSIP) has provided emergency food to neighbors in need since 1969.

The primary mission of the SSIP Food Closet is to maintain and operate an emergency food distribution program to help alleviate food insecurity for Sacramento area residents.  The operation of this vital resource depends on the help of donors, volunteers, and community partners.  It is often said that SSIP is a place where miracles happen.  The miracle is that no matter how high the need for food grows, the SSIP Food Closet meets the need. Neighbors receive the food they require.  This is all thanks to the generosity of our caring community.  Due to the increase of inflation and the rise in costs for basic goods we are currently serving over 5,000 households each month, that is over 15,000 of our neighbors.  There have been days when over 300 clients have been served in a single shift.  Financial donations enable us to keep our doors open, keeping the vans running, the freezers plugged in and providing salaries for our four part time staff.  SSIP Food Closet is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.  Faith-based partner organizations, with the assistance from local businesses and other community members, provide support and resources for the Food Closet's mission.

At the SSIP Food closet we want our donors to know that when you donate, it is not just a financial transaction for SSIP.  It is connection to a community of caring, a relationship that SSIP hopes to foster and cultivate.  It is the SSIP vision that we will continue to be a well-managed and sustainably funded food distribution beacon for the food insecure residents of Sacramento, working together to provide funding, structure, and operating procedures to ensure a secure and stable organization.  We are guided by values, service, integrity, stewardship and accountability.
