$10,000 Goal

The Los Rios Colleges Foundation has been serving students of the Los Rios colleges as a 501(c)(3) auxiliary foundation to the college district since 1978. The goal of our Board of Directors, who represent the community and our four colleges, is to raise private philanthropic gifts from individuals and organizations that support the needs of students and faculty, improve student success and help to prepare an educated workforce by providing student scholarships, emergency financial grants to students and college program support.

The Los Rios colleges provide a vibrant learning environment that empowers all students to achieve their educational and career goals. We strive to transform the lives of students and enhance the vitality of our region by:
1. Establishing effective pathways that optimize student access and success.
2. Ensuring equitable academic achievement across all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and gender groups.
3. Providing exemplary teaching and learning opportunities.
4. Leading the region in workforce development.
5. Fostering an outstanding working and learning environment.

Mission

The mission of the Los Rios Colleges Foundation is to invest in the students of the Los Rios Community Colleges to help them achieve their aspirations through education.

We serve more than 75,000 students at our four colleges: American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College.

Needs

Where needed most, including helping students stay in school and succeed through direct support of textbook vouchers or providing mini grants to faculty for innovative ideas.

The Los Rios Student Emergency Fund, which provides immediate financial assistance (usually within 24 hours) to students involved in catastrophic or unexpected emergency situations.

Programs like the Los Rios Promise Scholarship (helping first-time, full-time students with the largest unmet financial need) and general scholarships (need based and/or merit based) that directly help students pay for their college education and costs associated with going to college like mandatory fees and textbooks.

College specific support for American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College or Sacramento City College.

The Harris Center for the Arts, the 80,000 square foot regional arts center on the Folsom Lake College campus, offers an evolving array of vibrant programs geared for people of all ages and backgrounds. Ticket sales only cover a portion of the Harris Center's expenses and contributions are vital to bringing exciting touring performers to the area, providing affordable access for students and local artists, and keeping ticket prices reasonable.

Equity Statement

At Los Rios Community College District, we value equity and diversity. That's why we work toward just and fair inclusion into a society in which all people can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential.
