Friends Forever A Cat Sanctuary

FFACS was started in September 2008 with a founder and two other foster volunteers who were involved in another organization previously. In October 2008 we held our first adoption event at a local Petco store and for the next four years we did our adoptions from our homes, at Petco and other sites including a mobile adoption trailer. In April 2009 we were granted our nonprofit status by the IRS and were incorporated. We set up a seven-member Board of Directors in January of 2009 and began to have monthly meetings. In our first year of rescue we took about 50% of our cats from the Placer County Animal Services to assist in ending the high kill rate there, and the rest came from the public. In September of 2012 we had raised enough funds to lease and renovate a commercial building to house our cats and hold adoptions. At the same time, we opened a thrift shop, 'The Cat's Meow', adjacent to the Adoption Center to help fund our operations. Our bylaws were written in 2008 to be a no kill, cage free, all volunteer organization, and we continue to operate under those bylaws to date. We operate from a 4,000 square foot building. To date we have rescued over 2,600 cats that would have otherwise lost their lives. Our net income in 2016 was a slightly positive.
