Needs
Citrus Heights HART is an all-volunteer-run nonprofit. That means every dollar raised goes directly into our programs. The need for stable housing in Citrus Heights continues to grow.
Over the past year alone, HART provided homelessness prevention and housing stabilization services to 45 local residents, focusing on keeping individuals and families safely housed before crisis turns into homelessness. Through emergency financial assistance, housing navigation, and case management, dozens of households avoided eviction or displacement — allowing parents to maintain employment, children to stay in their schools, and seniors to remain in their homes.
From November 1, 2025 through February 5, 2026, HART assisted 11 households, distributing $23,768 in emergency rental assistance to stop eviction before it happened.
Since launching our Rental Assistance Program in 2021, HART has:
Assisted 142 households
Distributed $221,485 in emergency rental assistance
Supported 23 individuals in transitional housing, providing $31,997 to Grace House
These are not just numbers. These are families who avoided losing everything.
Our Rental Assistance Program is one of the most effective tools we have to prevent homelessness. When a household falls behind due to medical bills, job loss, or unexpected emergencies, a relatively small amount of support can mean the difference between stability and eviction.
Prevention works — but it requires community investment.
Big Day of Giving fuels:
Rental Assistance & Homelessness Prevention
Emergency Stabilization Services
Winter Sanctuary support
Utility Assistance
HART carefully reviews every case through an internal committee of board members and community volunteers, collaborates with trusted partners, and connects households to ongoing resources.
Without funding, families fall through the cracks. With it, we intervene early, reduce reliance on emergency shelter systems, and strengthen neighborhood stability. On Big Day of Giving, your donation doesn’t just support a nonprofit — it prevents homelessness in Citrus Heights.
When our community shows up, families stay housed.
