Bent (formerly SIGLFF, the Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival) was founded by Allen Cole in Sacramento in 1992. Organizers joined forces with the students from the CSU Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Alliance, and the brothers of the Delta Lambda Phi Fraternity and received grant funds from CSUS Associated Students Inc. to use as seed money to get the Festival started. Held on October 8, 1992, the first year was a big success, with a sold out, one evening event at the Crest Theater. We continue this tradition of presenting the Festival in early October to celebrate "National Coming Out Day."
Bent is committed to bringing the quality, contemporary film and video programming of our diverse LGBTQ community to the greater Sacramento area through an annual film festival and other related activities.
We are looking for board members who have a passion for film and community service; who are dependable and are willing to volunteer their time and services. Services that are provided in-house are extremely important for a non-profit working with a tight budget. The more services we can provide in-house, the more our organization can grow and aid in our mission to promote cultural events and support local artists.
