Good questions! Both GivingEdge and Big Day of Giving are programs of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation that aim to connect local people with local causes and foster our community's philanthropic spirit.

• GivingEdge is this website — which is accessible via givingedge.org and bigdayofgiving.org! GivingEdge is a year-round resource for information on hundreds of local nonprofits, and the backbone of our region's annual giving day, Big Day of Giving. We built GivingEdge to help everyone in our community discover organizations that match their interests. The nonprofit profiles in the searchable database are updated annually and include information on each organization's programs, governance, financial management, impact, and more. 
• Big Day of Giving is a once-annual, day-long celebration of giving to local causes that matter to you and your loved ones! GivingEdge is the hub of activity during Big Day of Giving. Not only is it easy to find and give to participating nonprofits, but all gifts made through the website are eligible for prizes and match funds, and they're tallied in real-time! It's a super-fun 24 hours that engages our entire community. Since the first giving day in 2013, more than 50,000 donors have helped hundreds of local nonprofits raise millions of dollars through the effort. The next Big Day of Giving is Thursday, May 1, 2025! You can register to receive an email or text message reminder on the Foundation's website.

You can search GivingEdge in a number of ways. You can use the "Find a cause to support" field on the front page or browse and filter the complete list of organizations straight from the Search for a Cause page. If you choose to make a gift, the minimum donation on GivingEdge is $10 and all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express) are accepted.

Every profile on GivingEdge conveniently has a donate button! Find an organization you want to support and click "Donate." If you'd like to give to more than one nonprofit, you can fill out the amount and select "Add to cart and checkout later," then continue exploring more organizations to support. Once you've added all of your donations to your cart, you can click the shopping cart icon in the top right corner of the screen and enter your payment information once. 

• Credit card: The minimum donation is $10 and all major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express) are accepted. A technology and processing fee is assessed on all credit card donations, which you have the option to offset.

You can use GivingEdge to make a one-time gift or set up monthly recurring donations, which can be managed via your GivingEdge account. For additional information on recurring gifts, please see these support articles from the GivingEdge platform's technology team.

Credit Card 

Giving via credit card is the easiest and quickest way to donate during Big Day of Giving! All major credit cards are accepted, and each credit card gift counts toward Big Day of Giving tallies, prizes, goals, and matching funds that the organizations you support may have.

Donor Advised Fund or Other Managed Account 

To donate through your Donor Advised Fund or other managed account, click on the downward carrot in the Payment Method area of the donation form and provide the requested information. Gifts made this way count toward Big Day of Giving tallies, goals, and matching funds. If you're giving through your personalized Donor Advised Fund at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation or the Yolo Community Foundation, we'll handle the rest! You can also contact us to learn about other exclusive and hassle-free ways to support nonprofits on Big Day of Giving. 

If you are giving through a different account, we'll immediately email you the list of your committed donations to fulfill through your external account.

Check 

To best capture the generosity that occurs during Big Day of Giving, nonprofits are welcome to reflect "offline" gifts (typically checks mailed directly to the nonprofits during the giving window) in their Big Day of Giving donation tallies. Please contact nonprofits directly to make offline gifts.

The Sacramento Region Community Foundation retains a fee on credit card and bank account transactions to offset associated technology and processing costs. The cumulative fee is comprised of:

• Technology & Management: On all donations, 3% is assessed to offset technology costs. 
• Processing, which is dependent on the method of payment: For credit card gifts, 2.2% is assessed to offset processing costs. For bank account gifts, 0.8% (capped at $5.00) plus $1.50 is assessed to offset processing costs.

Yes! An official donation tax receipt is emailed to you within minutes of the donation. If you do not receive the email or you're in need of a duplicate receipt, you can log in to your donor account to access the receipt, or contact us to request a copy at givingedge@sacregcf.org or (916) 921-7723.

Yes, you can set up a recurring monthly donation to your favorite cause(s) on GivingEdge by selecting the "Monthly Donation" option on the Donation page. Once set up, donations will automatically be processed via your payment method on the same day each month. You can manage, edit, or cancel your recurring donation(s) at any time through your GivingEdge user profile.

While we encourage you to give to your favorite causes throughout the year, when you give during Big Day of Giving, you join a community-wide movement, a day-long effort to rally together and do something positive — collectively — for our region. Plus, when you give through this website on Big Day of Giving, your gifts have the chance to be boosted with match funds and prize dollars. That's how a $10 gift can turn into $500 on Big Day of Giving!

It's easy to give. Anytime during the giving window leading up to May 1, 2025, search for local organizations working on causes that matter most to you. This website makes it easy to discover Sacramento area nonprofits and to make multiple gifts in one simple, secure transaction. Only the causes listed on this website are participating in Big Day of Giving.

The minimum gift is $10 and all major credit cards are accepted on this website, as well as other payment methods. In addition to giving, we encourage you to spread the word and encourage others to donate, too!

If you give with a Golden 1 Credit Union debit or credit card during the Big Day of Giving donation window, your gifts will have an outsized impact. This year, Golden 1 Credit Union is once again proportionately matching the donations its members made — up to $100,000! 

To qualify for the Golden 1 Credit Union match, donations must be made at bigdayofgiving.org using Golden 1 Credit Union debit or credit cards during the giving window. After Big Day of Giving, the match funds will be distributed proportionately to nonprofits according to the distribution of gifts made using Golden 1 Credit Union debit or credit cards.
