For this year’s Big Day of Giving, one of the local nonprofits I’m supporting is Placer Land Trust. I value this organization because as a member and Board member, I know I’m helping to protect natural communities, agricultural lands, scenic areas, and areas that provide opportunities for outdoor recreation in Placer County. Your local contribution to Placer Land Trust and support for other similar organizations throughout the United States are having a global impact that will benefit generations to come. 

Land conservation has never been more necessary or important. Placer Land Trust and our partners in conservation provide a balance between the protection of our lands, waters, wildlife, and ways of life and the changes that occur in our communities in response to economic development, climate change, and other stressors on our natural environment. This is especially true here in Placer County which is one of the most biodiverse areas in the State while also being one of the fastest growing Counties in the State.

Every acre of land that we conserve provides clean air for us to breathe, healthy soil for our crops to grow, and clean water for our lakes, streams and rivers. These special and unique places also provide opportunities for us to get outdoors and enjoy the special place that we call Placer County. AND, every acre of land that we conserve also protects the unique landscapes that support a wide diversity of plants, fish and wildlife including the rare vernal pool grasslands in the Central Valley, the wild rivers in steep canyons, the salmon and steelhead in our streams and the oak-studded Foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

Your donation of any size will not only help protect more vital land, but it will also make you a Placer Land Trust member, or will extend your membership for a full year. AND, the first $80,000 in donations will be DOUBLED by a matching fund!
