Fees & Disclosures

Transparency in giving

At the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, we value transparency in giving. That's why we provide disclosures to donors about their gifts made via GivingEdge in accordance with applicable California state laws and don't hide the processing fee for credit card gifts.

GivingEdge Disclosures

Here's what you need to know about the process and timeline we follow when getting donations to the Sacramento region causes you love. (Please forgive the legalese!)

In accordance with applicable laws, the Sacramento Region Community Foundation has exclusive legal control over the contributed assets and is fully committed to carrying out the purpose of your gift. The Sacramento Region Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Its Tax-ID is 94-2891517.

The selected charity may not receive a grant funded by your contribution if it is no longer recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization, has had its California tax-exempt status revoked by the Franchise Tax Board, or is no longer in good standing with the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. If it continues to qualify to receive a grant, the grant will be made no later than 30 days after the end of the month of your contribution to allow us time to process the grant.

A “fee” will be retained by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to offset associated technology and processing costs. On all donations, 3% is assessed to offset technology costs. The amount assessed to offset processing costs is dependent on the method of payment. For credit card gifts, 2.2% is assessed to offset processing costs. For bank account gifts, 0.8% (capped at $5.00) plus $1.50 is assessed to offset processing costs.

When you make a donation on GivingEdge, you can elect to help cover the fee. During our last giving event, 87% of donors helped cover the fee for the nonprofit(s) they supported. We thank them for their generosity!

GivingEdge Fees

In order to offer and sustain GivingEdge — and Big Day of Giving, the annual giving event that it powers — a transaction fee is charged on every donation made using our platform. To make your giving as convenient and impactful as possible, our team at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation has ensured this fee has not increased. The fee assessed is dependent on the payment method used and is comprised of the following components:

  • Technology & Management: On all donations, 3% is assessed to offset technology and management costs. This helps cover the cost of maintaining and enhancing this secure technology platform, making it possible for area donors to discover and support multiple organizations in one simple transaction. A portion of this amount us used by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation to sustain GivingEdge and Big Day of Giving.
  • Processing: For credit card gifts, 2.2% is assessed on the donation amount to offset processing costs. For bank account gifts of $100 or more, 0.8% (capped at $5.00) plus $1.50 is assessed to offset processing costs.
