$10,000 Goal

Friends of the Yolo County Archives hopes to raise $10,000 to support two specific projects at the Archives.

The first project is a paid staff position to complete the digitization of photographs in a collection of over 4,000 photographs. These photos chronicle historic events, places, and scenes from everyday life in Yolo County such as schools, buildings, churches, businesses, and homes; pioneer families; cars, wagons, trains, and other modes of transportation; agriculture and farms; celebrations and anniversaries; social clubs and activities. Last year's funding paid for the digitization of half of the collection or 2,000 photos. We are hoping to provide the support to finish that work, an additional 2,000 photos. Once digitized, the photographs will be accessible to the public, researchers, and Archives staff as an important tool for primary source literacy, genealogy, and to raise awareness of local history. They will be a great resource for the community.

The second project is a paid position to help identify and select materials to be digitized for third and fourth grade curriculum. The curriculum will follow state standards and be made available online.

If you are able, please help us reach our goal.

Mission

Friends of the Yolo County Archives was founded in November 1986, to support the Archive's mission of making the County's archival records accessible to the public through volunteer help and financial assistance. Since that time, the Friends have volunteered countless hours in the Archives, raised funds to pay professional salaries, and purchased equipment and supplies to help ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of our shared history.
