Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. Its 1.4 million members are dedicated to bettering the quality of life for the handicapped, the poor, the sick, and the aged. The motto of Lions Clubs International is "WE SERVE," and Lions live this motto with enthusiasm.
The Elk Grove Lions Club was founded in 1954 to bring those ideals to our local community. To serve our community.
One of our primary objectives is to serve the needs of people with vision and hearing problems. In fact, Helen Keller, in 1925, challenged the original Lions Club to become the Knights of the Blind and that is a challenge that we have been working to achieve since that time.
We also work to meet the needs of community groups and organizations throughout Elk Grove.
To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs.
Funds to assist with the purchase of eyeglasses and to provide for eye exams.
Funds to assist with the purchase of hearing aids and to provide for hearing exams.
Funds to support the various youth groups that we assist, such as Boy Scout Troop 59, Cub Scout Pack 179, Elk Grove FFA, Elk Grove 4-H, Lions Club Student Speaker Contest, etc.
Donations of used glasses that can be reconditioned for later use by people who need glasses but cannot afford them.
Donations of used hearing aids that can be reconditioned for later use.
