Sarah's Moms of Elk Grove Fundraiser

Hi friends and family!

If you weren’t already aware, I am a founding board member of the non-profit, Moms of Elk Grove, and I am reaching out as part of Big Day of Giving, a 24 hour online fundraising effort for non-profits in the Sacramento Region!

When I moved to Elk Grove, I didn’t know many people and when I had my now 3 year old son, Callum, motherhood felt isolating. After meeting the now two other board members of Moms of Elk Grove, Mandy and Natalie, we joined forces to start this non-profit in order to reduce that feeling of isolation in motherhood.

Moms of Elk Grove hos two events a month; a ‘Moms Night Out’ and a ‘Kids Play Date/Event’. In an effort to reach as many moms as possible, we keep our Moms Night Out events low cost (~$20-$30 to attend) and our Kids Play Dates completely FREE! Our events have brought community together ranging from 30-100 moms and their kids attending. I’ve personally gained so many meaningful friendships through these events and have been so fortunate to build my community in Elk Grove. I have seen moms show up to our events not knowing anyone and leaving with multiple friends to get together with in the future. The events are more than just a fun day or night out, they are a resource for moms to reduce isolation and build community!

In addition to our monthly events, Moms of Elk Grove manages and supplies a community pantry at a local indie bookstore. This resource sparked from the SNAP benefit freeze and has grown from there. Each week, we stock the pantry full of family friendly nonperishable items for anyone in the community to access. What started as a small project has grown with the shelves being wiped clean in sometimes only 1-2 days after stocking them.

We want to continue offering these events and resources for moms in the community but we need your help! Strong communities and resources are built and sustained with the support of others like you.
