I became a CASA Volunteer in 2023 because I am a former foster youth and I wish I was able to have a CASA during that time. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to give back in some way. When I learned about CASA Sacramento volunteer program I was ecstatic to sign up. Being a CASA for the past three years has been a learning experience being on the outside now looking in for myself instead of being on the inside. It definitely has its challenges, but is such a rewarding feeling to be able to support and advocate for children in the system.
CASA Sacramento’s mission is to ensure consistency and support for children in the foster care system through the use of volunteer advocates advancing the best interests of each child. One consistent, caring adult can open a foster child’s life to a universe of possibilities.
Our Big Day of Giving theme for 2026 is “Champion a Child”, because our foster youth have big dreams and the drive to achieve them – they just need a friend, mentor and voice in court to support them along the way.
As of January 2026, there are nearly 1,100 kids in foster care in Sacramento County. Each of them could benefit from having a CASA Volunteer to ensure they receive the educational, health, and emotional supports they need to thrive.
Thank you for supporting my work as a CASA Volunteer! Your donation of any amount will help us reach our goal of raising $100,000 to match every foster child on our wait list with an advocate like me.
