Prizes

Prize challenges are a fun and exciting way to boost your giving on Big Day of Giving! In many cases, all you have to do is make a donation to help your favorite causes win over $100,000 in prizes that are up for grabs!

Of course, none of these prize challenges would be possible without tremendous support from the community. We could not furnish these prizes to help boost your giving -- and participating nonprofits' totals! -- without the support of partners like Western Health Advantage, who are helping the team at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation facilitate this region-wide philanthropic effort!

GENERAL PRIZES
MADE POSSIBLE BY WESTERN HEALTH ADVANTAGE

HOURLY DONATION CHALLENGE: $12,000 up for grabs!

We'll award a $500 prize every hour on May 2 to the participating nonprofit that raises the most money during that hour! A total of $12,000 will be awarded.

HOURLY DONOR CHALLENGE: $12,000 up for grabs!

BOOSTERS: $20,000 up for grabs!

Every donation has a chance to make an even bigger difference with a booster prize! We'll randomly select donation(s) throughout Big Day of Giving to BOOST with some extra love! Boosts will reach from $250-1,000, and a total of $20,000 is up for grabs!

BLAST OFF BOOSTERS: $3,000 up for grabs!

Let's kick things off with a bang! We'll randomly select three donations made within the first 10 minutes of Big Day of Giving (that's from 12-12:10 a.m.!) to give an extra $1,000 boost! A total of $3,000 will be awarded.

NEWBIE CHALLENGE: $3,000 up for grabs!

We'll randomly select three first-time Big Day of Giving nonprofit participants to receive a $1,000 extra boost! A total of $3,000 will be awarded.

DONOR CHALLENGE: $5,000 to each winning organization!

Quantity is key for this prize challenge! We'll award $5,000 to the organizations in each of size category (small, medium, and large) that have the greatest number of unique donors on Big Day of Giving. A total of $15,000 will be awarded.

EARLY DOG PRIZE: $5,000 has already been awarded!

Earlier this year, we randomly selected ten nonprofits that submitted GivingEdge profiles substantially before the required deadline to receive $500 Early Dog Prizes! Because the ten winners -- and over a hundred other nonprofits that qualified -- submitted their GivingEdge profiles for review before the deadline, the BDOG team of reviewers was able to help them build stronger profiles that best communicate their work to donors in the Sacramento region! Congratulations to Baby Steps Therapy, Foresthill Pool, Oak Park Rotary House, Placer Land Trust, Royal Stage Christian Performing Arts, Sacramento Guitar Society, Sacramento Native American Health Center, Sheriff's Community Impact Program, St. HOPE, and Welcome Home Housing on winning this award!

"IMPRESS THE JUDGES!" PRIZES
BEST INTEGRATED MARKETING CAMPAIGNS: $3,000 to the first place winner!

We'll award three prizes to the three organizations with the strongest BDOG integrated marketing campaigns -- that is, cohesive campaigns that incorporate a mix of communications vehicles, potentially including video, photos and graphics, special events, and more! Nonprofits must submit their interest by Monday, April 15, on the Foundation's website, and they should be prepared to share final details of their campaign—including the story of its impact—with the Foundation by Monday, May 6. Prize winners will be announced in mid-May. This prize will be judged by a panel of experts, who will award $3,000 to the first place winner, $2,000 to the second place winner, and $1,000 to the third place winner. A total of $6,000 will be awarded.

BEST BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS: $1,000 to three winners!

We'll award three prizes to the three organizations with the strongest BDOG business partnerships. A strong business partnership can take many shapes, so we encourage nonprofits to make a compelling case for our judges! One thing's for sure: the partnership should be between a participating nonprofit and a for-profit business that has a presence in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, or Yolo counties! Nonprofits must submit their interest by Monday, April 15, on the Foundation's website, and they should be prepared to share final details of their campaign—including the story of its impact—with the Foundation by Monday, May 6. Prize winners will be announced in mid-May. This prize will be judged by a panel of experts, who will award three $1,000 prizes. A total of $3,000 will be awarded.

PHOTO CONTEST: $2,500 up for grabs!

We'll award this prize to five of the best BDOG-related photos nonprofits submit to our expert panel of judges! We consider "BDOG-related" photos to be a broad category, as so much of how Big Day of Giving benefits the Sacramento region happens off the BDOG website and beyond the 24-hour time limit. The photo might capture a particular BDOG moment, or it might document in some other way how Big Day of Giving has strengthened an organization’s impact in the region. We encourage nonprofits participating in this challenge to make a compelling case to the judges. To be eligible, the photo(s) must be posted to Facebook or Instagram on Big Day of Giving using the hashtag #BDOG2019, and the photo(s) and a write-up between 150-300 words must also be submitted via a form on the Foundation’s website by Monday, May 6, by the nonprofit's Team Captain. The latter will be the organization's official entry into the prize challenge. Team Captains can submit as many as two photos via the form on the Foundation’s website for their organizations. Each winning nonprofit will receive a $500 prize. A total of $2,500 will be awarded.

VIDEO CONTEST: $2,250 up for grabs!

We'll award this prize to the three organizations that submit the best 30-second (or less!) videos that demonstrate their missions, as decided by our expert panel! The video must be shared on Facebook or Instagram on May 2 with the hashtag #BDOG2019, and it must also be submitted via a form on the Foundation’s website by Tuesday, April 30; the latter will be the organization’s official entry into the contest. One nonprofit in each size category (small, medium, and large) will be awarded a $750 prize. A total of $2,250 will be awarded.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN PRIZES

MOST DONATIONS RAISED IN A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN: $1,000 to three winners!

We'll award $1,000 to the organizations in each size category (small, medium, and large) that have the donor fundraising campaigns that generate the most in donations by 11:59 p.m. on May 2. Scheduled gifts will be included in the counts. A total of $3,000 will be awarded.

We'll award $1,000 to the organizations in each size category (small, medium, and large) that have the donor fundraising campaigns that secure the most donors by 11:59 p.m. on May 2. Donors who scheduled gifts will be included in the counts. A total of $3,000 will be awarded.

GOLDEN TICKETS: $5,000 up for grabs!

In ten random drawings throughout the day, we'll award prizes of $500 to nonprofits with peer-to-peer campaigns that have raised at least $100 in donations.

We'll randomly award $2,000 to one organization in each size category (small, medium, and large) that has received scheduled gifts from 100% of its Board of Directors members before Big Day of Giving! PRIZE CHALLENGE RULES

Now for the boring stuff! If you have questions about the prize challenges that aren't answered in the rules below, please email the Big Day of Giving team at bdog@sacregcf.org.

1. Only gifts made with a credit card at www.bigdayofgiving.org on May 2 are eligible to count toward prize challenges, unless otherwise noted. Gifts made to organizations through Donor Advised Funds at the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and/or Yolo Community Foundation, offline gifts entered, matching funds, and scheduled gifts will reflect in your leaderboard totals, but do not count toward challenges, unless otherwise noted.

2. A unique donor is defined as one donation from one donor.

3. Organizations are eligible to win only one Hourly Donation Challenge and one Hourly Donor Challenge. Organizations may win both in the same hour or different hours, but can only win each challenge once.

4. Booster Challenge winners are selected randomly every hour throughout the day and multiple BDOG Booster prizes may be given within a single hour. Organizations are only eligible to win one BDOG Booster challenge per hour. If an organization is randomly chosen and has already received a Booster prize within the hour, another donation will be selected at random.

5. Prize challenge winners will be posted on a tab titled "Prizes" on the Leaderboard. Additionally, prize winners will be announced periodically on Big Day of Giving social media accounts.

6. Prize challenges are subject to change and all announced prizes are subject to verification. In the event of a tie, a prize will be split evenly among winners.
