About Feed the Hungry of Auburn

Our founding was in 1992. Our original mission was to purchase livestock animals from 4H (Head, Heart, Hands and Health) and FFA (Future Farmers of America) youth, process these animals, and donate the meat to Auburn’s Salvation Army Corps. This mission fulfills two objectives: 1) Helping to fund future educational goals for the youngster, and 2) Furnishing fresh meat to the Salvation Army’s food closet. We have executed this mission in each of the last 30 years.

As we grew, and more of the community recognized us as an important community services resource, we gradually expanded our donor support network as well as our outreach to those in need. Currently we are working with several organizations that span multiple missions.  These organizations/missions include:

  1. Auburn Gold Country Fairgrounds
  2. Auburn Recreation District
  3. Auburn Host Lions
  4. Auburn Chamber of Commerce (e.g. Festival of Lights and State of the Community Event)
  5. Both governmental (e.g. Placer Board of Supervisors) and non-governmental disaster relief organizations (Christian organizations, typically churches)
  6. South Placer Fire Fighters Association (Toy and food drives)
  7. PetSmart (Four locations)
  8. Dewitt Homeless Shelter (through Gathering Inn)
  9. Law enforcement (Crime Victims United)
  10. Placer County Sherriff (potential services are being researched)
  11. California Highway Patrol (potential services are being researched)
  12. Local Schools
  13. Recovery ministries (for example Acres of Hope and Samaritans Purse)
  14. Briar Patch Food Co-op (currently in negotiations)
